Winter X Games 2015 Aspen Preview and Schedule

Aspen native Torin Yater-Wallace will look to win gold at the half pipe at the Winter X Games Aspen 2015 later this month.

Winter X Games Aspen gets underway in a couple of weeks with the women’s ski superpipe event on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The main part of the schedule then begins the next day and continues for four days with action wrapping up on Sunday, Jan. 25. Here is a look at Winter X Games 2015 Aspen and the schedule.

Halfpipe Rivalry

The friendly rivalry between Olympic freeskiers Torin Yater-Wallace and David Wise will get a lot of attention at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen. Yater-Wallace could have the edge as he is from Aspen and he beat Wise in the final at Breckenridge.

Snowboard Stars

The new snowboarding star is Ty Walker who, at 17, became the first women to win an FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup event. She will be competing in the slopestyle snowboarding event in Aspen. The women’s final in slopestyle will be on Sunday. Walker is coming off a big win in Istanbul, where she beat Sina Candrian and Cheryl Maas.

“Before the last jump, I was going crazy at the top,” Walker said, “I knew I had the trick, but I was nervous. I kept telling myself, ‘I always land my runs in Turkey. I always land my runs in Turkey.”

One of the stars on the men’s side at Aspen could be slopestyle rider Brandon Davis from the U.S. who finished in third place in Turkey. He finished behind Seppe Smits from Belgium and Jonas Boesing of Switzerland.
