Qatar (Al-Annabi) is ranked 56th and making its second World Cup appearance (2022, 2026), also its second straight. The nation’s best finish is the group stage and its all-time record is 0-1-3. Mohammed Muntari is Qatar’s top scorer with one goal, and was both the oldest and youngest World Cup scorer for the country at 28 years, 340 days (2022 vs. Senegal). According to ESPN, Qatar scored the fewest goals by a host nation (one), finished with the worst goal difference (-6) and became only the second host to be eliminated in the group stage in 2022.
Switzerland (Nati) sit 19th in the FIFA rankings and are appearing for the 13th time (1934, 1938, 1950, 1954, 1962, 1966, 1994, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026), marking six consecutive tournaments since 2006. Their best finish is the quarterfinals (1934, 1938, 1954). Switzerland’s all-time World Cup record is 14-9-19. Sepp Hugi is the nation’s top World Cup scorer with six goals, all scored in 1954. The team participated in the highest-scoring World Cup match, a 7-5 loss to Austria in 1954. Georges Bregy is Switzerland’s oldest World Cup scorer (36 years, 152 days in 1994 vs. USA) and Fredy Bickel its youngest (20 years, 28 days in 1938 vs. Germany).
Bosnia and Herzegovina (Zmajevi) are ranked 64th and making their second appearance (2014, 2026). Their best result remains the 2014 group stage. Bosnia’s World Cup record is 1-1-2; goal scorers across tournaments include Avdija Vrsajevic, Edin Dzeko, Miralem Pjanic, Vedad Ibisevic and Jovo Lukic, each with one goal. Ibisevic is the oldest Bosnian scorer (29 years, 313 days in 2014 vs. Argentina) and Pjanic the youngest (24 years, 84 days in 2014 vs. Iran).
