World Cup Betting Odds:  Group E action on Sunday has Switzerland taking on Ecuador on ABC.  The Swiss are a slight favorite to win what is considered a key game in Group E. Both teams are listed behind France in the group so the winner of this match will have the inside track to advancing out of the group stage.  Here is a look at the match and World Cup predictions.

Switzerland +150, Ecuador +220, Draw +205, total 2

The money line has the Swiss listed at -139 while Ecuador is +119.

Switzerland

The Swiss will be making their tenth World Cup appearance with their best finishes coming in 1934, 1938 and 1954 as they made the quarterfinals.  They should have made it out of the group stage four years ago but couldn’t get a win against Honduras in their group finale.  Switzerland will get another chance this time around and they actually meet Honduras in the group finale again. The team is led by captain Gokhan Inler and he is joined by Valon Behrami.

Ecuador

This team has made three previous World Cup appearances with the best showing coming in 2006 as they made it out of the group stage. They are led by Antonio Valencia. The team wants to play at a fast pace to wear other teams out in the heat of Brazil. They have players like Jefferson Montero and Michael Arroyo who can provide support for Valencia. The problem for Ecuador is in goal as Maximo Banguera isn’t very good.

World Cup Predictions

A lot of people think that this Swiss squad is similar to past teams that played defensively but that is really not the case. This team is capable of playing wide open and I think they will against Ecuador. I am surprised the total in this one is only 2 so I will go over the World Cup betting odds.
