World Cup Picks – Uruguay Favored vs. Costa Rica on Saturday on ABC

Uruguay vs Costa Rica on Saturday

World Cup Betting Odds:  Group D action takes place on Saturday with Costa Rica taking on Uruguay.  The favorite to win Group D is Italy but just barely as Uruguay is a close second choice.  England should also be in contention while Costa Rica is a longshot.  Uruguay is more than a 2-1 favorite on the three-way line to win this game on Saturday that can be seen on ABC.  Here is a look at the match and World Cup picks.

Uruguay -215, Costa Rica +700, Draw +340, total 2.5 under

The goal line has Uruguay laying one goal at -130.

Uruguay

The Uruguay team is expected to win this match on Saturday and they have a realistic chance to win Group D.  The team finished fourth in 2010 and they won the Copa America the following year.  The team has a very good goaltender in Fernando Muslera and they have some good strikers like Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.  The team also has Diego Forlan who they can bring off the bench. The team also has a good midfielder in Arevalo Rios. Uruguay is well aware that they can’t afford to take this game lightly against Costa Rica. “They’ve got players in Europe, they’ve really come on and they’ve been a tough nut for us to crack in the last few years. They almost stopped us from getting to South Africa” (2010). Muslera said.

Costa Rica

The team will be without Alvaro Saborio and Bryan Oviedo but they still have Bryan Ruiz who is an attacking midfielder.  Since the team doesn’t have much offensive firepower they will rely upon a defense that allowed just seven goals in 10 qualifying matches.  They really need goalkeeper Keylor Navas to steal a point or two. It would also help if they can get something out of Joel Campbell and Christian Bolanos.

World Cup Picks

Uruguay should have too much for Costa Rica in this game on Saturday so I will lay the price in World Cup betting odds and expect a solid win for Uruguay.
