World Tour Soccer Podcast: Canada’s Lauren Sesselmann Talks Women’s World Cup Action

Women's World Cup Podcast
Sesselmann's teammate Christine Sinclair boots home the game-winning goal, with a penalty kick in stoppage time for Team Canada vs China.

This week on the Get More Sports World Tour Soccer Pod, our host Ej Garr visits with Lauren Sesselmann, as the Canadian National prepares for their next World Cup encounters with New Zealand and the Netherlands. With a 1 – 0 win to open the tournament June 11 vs China, Canada is tied atop Group A with the Dutch side, each having three points.

Our host will also highlight the ongoing FIFA news, which will be a story line for months, if not years to come. With Sepp Blatter stepping down just five days after being elected for another term as President, the speculation runs wild as to what came about the decision. We will of course give frequent updates as the events unfold, as we await a December 16 re-election process to replace Blatter as FIFA President.

Also highlighted, will be some MLS and NASL happenings around each league, with the NASL Spring Season coming to a close this weekend.

The Play of the Week comes with the MLS Sunday night game in the Citrus Bowl, as Orlando City host DC United, as we offer a play on the total.

We thank Canada’s #10, Lauren Sesselmann, for taking the time to come on the show, with her busy schedule, preparing for her team’s World Cup match tomorrow with New Zealand.
