WWE Monday Night Raw Recap: Road to Roadblock

Over the last few weeks on Monday Night Raw, Triple H (the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion) showed that Roman Reigns is not facing the COO of the WWE; he is facing the Cerebral Assassin that has been at the top of WWE for over a decade. Triple H made a statement by first beating Roman Reigns senseless two weeks ago, then followed it up last week by destroying Dean Ambrose after a main event match. This Sunday, on the WWE Network, Triple H defends his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dean Ambrose at WWE Roadblock.

Tonight features the return of Shane McMahon, as well as Y2AJ challenging the New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Opening Segment
We’re starting off RAW strong with Shane O’Mac. Shane McMahon starts hyping for his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 (if Shane wins, he gets control of Monday Night Raw).

GONG! It’s The Unde- Oh, wait. It’s Vince McMahon trolling the entire audience. After insulting his son for a few minutes, he sends out local indie wrestlers security, which Shane takes his anger out on and tosses out of the ring.

Kevin Owens vs. Neville
Both Kevin Owens and Neville don’t have anything planned for WrestleMania, and since Owens is the Intercontinental Champion, Neville might be the challenger.

Neville hits an insane amount of impressive moves, including the Red Arrow from the second rope. After kicking out of the Red Arrow, Owens rolls up Neville for the win. Winner: Kevin Owens

After the match, Owens attacks Neville from behind, sends him into the ring post, and before he powerbombs him onto the ring apron…

It’s Sami Zayn! Zayn enters to save Neville, and continue a feud with Kevin Owens that has been going on since Zayn and Owens were in the independent scene. We can only assume that Owens has his WreslteMania challenger.

Backstage Segment
For some reason, Dolph Ziggler and Stephanie McMahon are talking backstage. Ziggler brings up the time he defeated Team Authority at Survivor Series a couple of years ago. After taking some jabs at the Authority, Stephanie McMahon puts Ziggler in a match later on tonight, against three members of the League of Nations.

Brie Bella vs. Summer Rae
A few weeks ago, Summer Rae had an impressive win over Paige, which was the first match Summer Rae has been in in quite some time. Brie Bella recently lost her Divas Championship match against Charlotte at Fastlane, and has had a feud with Lana since.

During the match, Lana walks down the entrance ramp and distracts Brie Bella enough for Summer Rae to get the roll-up victory. Winner: Summer Rae

After the match, Lana hits Brie Bella with the facebuster that Brie and Nikki Bella have been using as a finisher for years, hinting at a possible in-ring debut in the future.

In-ring Segment
Dean Ambrose is in the ring to promote his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Triple H this Saturday at WWE Roadblock. Ambrose tries to get Triple H riled up, and does a good enough job for Triple H to come out to the stage. After promoting the match, Triple H announces that Ambrose will face Bray Wyatt tonight.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus, Rusev, & King Barrett – Elimination Tag Team Match
This match accomplishes nothing. Either the League of Nations wins, and stays the most boring team ever, or they lose, and stay the most boring team ever, but with less credibility.

Ziggler manages to get the better of King Barrett and eliminates him. Eliminated: King Barrett

Unfortunately, the numbers game gets the better of Ziggler, and Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick for the win. Winners: Sheamus, Rusev, & King Barrett

Naomi & Tamina vs. Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch
This is a rematch from WWE Fastlane, where Banks and Lynch picked up a victory over Naomi and Tamina. Banks and Lynch are facing Charlotte in a triple threat match for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania 32, and Charlotte (along with her father, Ric Flair) is doing some scouting at ringside.

Sasha Banks counters a bulldog from Naomi and locks in the Bank Statement for the win. Winners (via submission): Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch

After the match, Charlotte attacks Banks and Lynch, making a statement about what can possibly happen at WrestleMania.

Golden Truth Update
R-Truth wants to be a tag team, but Goldust doesn’t believe him. There is still some hope.

The New Day (c) vs. Y2AJ – Tag Team Championship
Y2AJ has picked up two wins against The New Day in the last week in a half during non-title matches. After defeating the Tag Team Champions twice, Y2AJ earned themselves a title match.

Y2AJ put on a great showing, but the numbers game helped the New Day just enough, leading to Big E hitting Chris Jericho with the Big Ending for the win. Winners: The New Day

After the match, Jericho, frustrated from the loss, hits AJ Styles with three Codebreakers, and shoves a Y2AJ shirt into Styles’s mouth. This means that the terrible team name is over, and perhaps Styles/Jericho IV at WrestleMania.

Kalisto vs. Tyler Breeze
It has been a while since Tyler Breeze has been relevant at all, and Kalisto, the United States Champion, hasn’t done much other than lose to the League of Nations in tag team matches.

After a pretty short match, Kalisto hits the Salida Del Sol for the win. Winner: Kalisto

New Hall of Fame Inductee
Big Boss Man is announced as the latest inductee into the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame class.

Backstage Segment
Kalisto is being interviewed by Jojo and interrupted by Ryback. Instead of challenging him to the United States Championship, he tries to convince Kalisto to leave Sin Cara and focus on a solo career.

Curtis Axel (w/Social Outcasts) vs. Ryback
“The Axe-man cometh,” as Curtis Axel gets ready to make Ryback look good in what will be a quick squash match. Remember when these two were teaming up as Rybaxel?

Ryback punches Axel on the ground for a bit and hits Shell Shocked for the win. That’s it. Winner: Ryback

Smackdown Announcements
MizTV will feature Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens!

Also, Chris Jericho will explain his actions from earlier on tonight.

Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt is sure to lose this match. He loses all the time, and he didn’t even come to the ring with the Wyatt Family against someone who has been constantly winning matches.

During the match, after Ambrose hits an elbow drop from the top rope, the Wyatt Family appears out of nowhere to beat down Ambrose. Winner (via disqualification): Dean Ambrose

After the match, Triple H comes down to the ring, and he gets ready to beat Ambrose senseless for the second week in a row. Triple H goes to set up the table, and when he gets back in the ring, Dean Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds to end Monday Night Raw.
