WWE NXT Recap: It’s Bayley!

Tonight on NXT we find out the condition of former Women’s Champion Bayley, and whether or not William Regal will make “Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura” an official match. With no TakeOver specials in the near future, it is time for NXT to start building up more stars.

Tye Dillinger vs. Oney Lorcan
Over the last two weeks, Tye Dillinger faced two consecutive losses against the newest NXT Superstar, Andrade “Cien” Almas. Tonight, the “Perfect 10” faces Oney Lorcan, a newcomer to NXT who used to be known as Biff Busick on the independent circuit.

Lorcan keeps pace with Dillinger, which Dillinger did not seem to expect. Dillinger trades finesse for aggression, and hits Lorcan hard throughout the remainder of the match. Lorcan manages to take advantage, hitting a very impactful spinning neckbreaker on Dilliner for the win. This could mean huge things for the future of Oney Lorcan. Winner: Oney Lorcan

Backstage Segment
Austin Aries is being interviewed about his loss to Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: The End, and he recognizes that Nakamura was the better man that night. However, the loss did fuel Aries’s fire, and increase the size of the chip on his shoulder. To cheer Aries up is No Way Jose, who tells him that when life says “no,” Aries should say “No way.”

No Way Jose vs. Josh Woods
No Way Jose has been undefeated since his debut several weeks ago, and he looks to continue that momentum going forward if he beats unknown local wrestler, Josh Woods.

No Way Jose hits the full nelson slam on Josh Woods to pick up the victory and continue his winning streak. Winner: No Way Jose

After Jose’s victory, Austin Aries comes down to the ring. Aries says that he has learned something from No Way Jose: after all is said and done, NXT is all about having fun. Aries joins No Way Jose in dancing all round Full Sail University, which leads to them dancing on the commentary table. Catching No Way Jose off his guard, Aries hits Jose with a discus elbow. Aries assaults Jose all the way to the entrance ramp, when he ends it with the Last Chancery, leaving Jose laid out.

Backstage Segment
Shinsuke Nakamura is seated with NXT General Manager William Regal regarding the suggested match between the King of Strong Style and Finn Balor. Both Nakamura and Balor want this match to happen, so Regal has made it so. In three weeks on NXT, Shinsuke Nakamura will take on the “Icon of NXT” to prove that he is worthy to face the NXT Champion, Samoa Joe.

Buddy Murphy (of Blake and Murphy) barges into the meeting between Regal and Nakamura, and demands that he gets treated like the “top star” he believes he is. Nakamura takes this as a challenge, and it looks like there is a match scheduled for our main event.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Bayley
Several weeks ago, Bayley took on Nia Jax, and faced a second surprising loss in just a few weeks after she lost the Women’s Championship to Asuka in Dallas. During the match against Jax, Bayley would get hurt badly enough where she would be out of action until this week. Earlier tonight, Bayley announced that she was healthy enough to come back to the ring, and that she would compete tonight.

Deonna Purrazzo gets some offense in on Bayley, but the former NXT Women’s Champion seems like she hasn’t missed a beat, landing the Bayley to Belly to pick up a win in her return. Winner: Bayley

Nia Jax vs. Liv Morgan
The last time we saw Nia Jax compete, she lost to (the still undefeated) Asuka in an NXT Women’s Championship match. Jax, who was the only person to show no fear against Asuka, almost put away the Women’s Champion, but Asuka put up enough of a fight to retain the title. After a second loss in an NXT Women’s Championship match, Nia Jax looks to regain some momentum tonight against Liv Morgan.

After Nia Jax hits a running tackle on Morgan, and finishes her off with a vicious powerbomb for the win. Winner: Nia Jax

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Buddy Murphy
Earlier tonight, Murphy interrupted Nakamura’s meeting with William Regal, and Nakamura looks to teach toe former NXT Tag Team Champion a lesson.

Murphy barely does anything (as expected), and gets hit with Kinshasa, giving the King of Strong Style yet another victory. Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
