WWE Power Rankings, Week of 3/5/17

Welcome to the third installment of the Get More Sports WWE Power Rankings. Last week, we saw huge jumps and falls, with AJ Styles up to #1 by beating Luke Harper in a #1 Contender’s Match. Bayley saw the biggest fall, since she got pinned by Nia Jax in a tag match on Raw. Now that Fastlane is over and we’re in the final stretch to WrestleMania, how does this impact the rankings?

  1. Chris Jericho (-)
After getting assaulted by Kevin Owens at the end of the Festival of Friendship, Jericho returned at Fastlane to screw over his former best friend. As soon as the Universal Championship match started, Y2J made an appearance and cost KO the title.
  2. Goldberg (+23)
As mentioned above, Goldberg defeated Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship in 23 seconds. That automatically makes him one of the top guys, along with the fact that he will likely main event WrestleMania.
  3. Randy Orton (+7)
The Viper went one-on-one with AJ Styles in the main event of SmackDown, defeating the Phenomenal One and securing his spot at WrestleMania against Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship. Needless to say, it was a great match.
  4. Samoa Joe (+0)
Still undefeated, Samoa Joe added two more wins to his record last week. First, he beat Sami Zayn with the Coquina Clutch at Fastlane. His second win came the following night when he left Chris Jericho laid out outside the ring to get a count-out victory.
  5. AJ Styles (-4)
Although he lost his WrestleMania title match to Randy Orton, Styles put on another great performance. After SmackDown went off the air, he also made some buzz on social media (and 205 Live) by storming into the backstage area and confronting Shane McMahon about being screwed out of a huge opportunity.
  6. Bayley (+13)
The Raw Women’s Champion bounced back from her loss to Nia Jax on Raw to end Charlotte’s Pay-Per-View singles match undefeated streak. The following night, she put on a good match with Sasha Banks, which she would end up tapping out to the Bank Statement.
  7. Neville (-)
The King of the Cruiserweights stole the show with Jack Gallagher at Fastlane, where he retained the Cruiserweight Championship. Neville would retain the title yet again in another great match against Rich Swann on Raw the next night.
  8. Sasha Banks (-)
Charlotte is getting her Raw Women’s Championship rematch at WrestleMania, and Sasha Banks’ victory over Bayley put her into that match as well, making for another women’s triple threat match at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
  9. The Undertaker (-)
Braun Strowman called out Roman Reigns, and got the Deadman. Strowman left, and Reigns came out to confront Undertaker. After saying that WWE is “his yard” now, Roman Reigns learned otherwise through getting chokeslammed.
  10. Brock Lesnar (-)
The Beast Incarnate made an unadvertised appearance on Raw to confront his WrestleMania opponent, Goldberg. He “congratulated” the champ by going for a handshake, then hitting Goldberg with an F5. This is the first time Goldberg’s taken a bump since returning, and that’s after winning a title.
  11. Austin Aries (-)
This week, Austin Aries left the commentary table and journalist job for good to get back in the ring. After attacking Neville on Raw, Aries showed off his in-ring ability by defeating Tony Nese the following night on 205 Live.
  12. Shinsuke Nakamura (-)
Nakamura returned to action this week for the first time since NXT TakeOver: San Antonio to face TJ Perkins in a fast paced, submission focused match that showed the King of Strong Style is ready to go.
  13. John Cena (-2)
For the first time ever, John Cena teamed up with his real-life girlfriend, Nikki Bella, to take on James Ellsworth and Carmella in mixed tag team action. You can probably guess who won that match.
  14. Ember Moon (-)
Ember Moon continued her undefeated streak by defeating Billie Kay, and earned herself a NXT Women’s Championship match at TakeOver: Orlando against Asuka.
  15. Baron Corbin (-)
The Lone Wolf hasn’t been in the ring in a while, but he definitely made an impact by attacking Dean Ambrose from behind backstage. He then proceeded to crush the Lunatic Fringe with a forklift.
  16. Kevin Owens (-9)
The former, and longest-reigning, Universal Champion had a rough week. He lost his championship in 23 seconds, but he took out his rage on Sami Zayn and made a United States Championship match for WrestleMania against Chris Jericho.
  17. Jack Gallagher (-)
Gallagher transformed from likable face to future star with his show-stealing performance against Neville. Although he lost, he regained some momentum by winning a tag match on 205 Live.
  18. Cesaro (+0)
The Swiss Superman wrestled an unannounced match against Jinder Mahal at Fastlane and it was pretty decent. On Raw, he then screwed over Enzo and Cass in their Raw Tag Team Championship match.
  19. Roman Reigns (-4)
Reigns was able to defeat Braun Strowman at Fastlane, but his attempt at stepping up the The Undertaker didn’t work out so well for him.
  20. Alexa Bliss (-6)
The SmackDown Women’s Champion won a tag team match alongside Mickie James on SmackDown, but quickly lost James as a friend afterwards.
  21. Braun Strowman (-19)
Strowman sees a big drop this week by losing to Reigns at Fastlane, then doing almost nothing on Monday Night Raw.
  22. TJ Perkins (-)
The winner of the Cruiserweight Classic showed what he does best, and he just just that by putting on a great fluid match against Shinsuke Nakamura.
  23. Mickie James (-)
James stepped out of the shadow of Mickie James and has decided to only look out for herself following a tag team win on SmackDown.
  24. The Miz (-)
While he hasn’t been in the ring for a couple weeks, The Miz had a great segment on Talking Smack that helped further his feud with John Cena and Nikki Bella.
  25. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (-)
Gallows and Anderson used smart strategy to hold onto their Raw Tag Team Championships for more than a month. Thanks to Sheamus and Cesaro, they retained the belts on Raw and will probably take them into WrestleMania.
