WWE Power Rankings, Week of 5/1/17

Welcome back to the Get More Sports weekly WWE Power Rankings, where we rank the top 25 WWE Superstars on their performance, impact, and momentum over the past week. After Payback, Raw and SmackDown finally separated their rosters and the shows went their own ways. However, it doesn’t seem like a lot happened last week. Let’s see how that affects the rankings.

  1. Alexa Bliss (+1)
Braun Strowman finally gets kicked out of the top spot after not appearing on Raw this week. Alexa Bliss started the show with a Championship Coronation, where she did great heel work on the mic as usual. Then, Bliss pinned Bayley for the second night in a row to win a big tag team match
  2. The Miz (+12)
In an incredible main event of Monday Night Raw, The Miz defeated Finn Balor and Seth Rollins to become the #1 Contender to Dean Ambrose’s Intercontinental Championship. Of course, he won the match with the help of Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt laying out the competition.
  3. Jinder Mahal (+0)
The Maharaja continued his journey to his WWE Championship match against Randy Orton at Backlash when he took on Sami Zayn on SmackDown. With the help of the Singh Brothers getting involved, Mahal managed to pin Zayn in the middle of the ring.
  4. Kevin Owens (+12)
Two days after losing the United States Championship to Chris Jericho at Payback, Kevin Owens won the title on SmackDown Live. After capturing his second United States Championship, KO destroyed Y2J and injured his former friend.
  5. Finn Balor (+5)
The first-ever Universal Champion kept building his momentum in the huge main event against The Miz and Seth Rollins. If it wasn’t for Bray Wyatt interfering in the match, Finn Balor arguably would have won the match and have become the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
  6. Bray Wyatt (+6)
The Eater of Worlds has finally made the full-time switch to Monday Night Raw, and his first appearance on this week’s show was to confront Kurt Angle. He said that he had a plan that would end up revealing itself when he attacked Finn Balor.
  7. The Welcoming Committee (-)
Carmella, Natalya, and Tamina (and James Ellsworth) have gone from irrelevant to dominant in just a couple weeks. They attacked Charlotte and Naomi during their SmackDown Women’s Championship match last week, and this week, Carmella and Natalya won a tag team match against the women involved in the title picture.
  8. Jack Gallagher (-2)
After wrestling a match every night last week, Jack Gallagher has a pretty light schedule when he only competed on Raw. Fortunately for Gallagher, he picked up a victory in his six-man tag team match alongside Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa.
  9. Breezango (+2)
Tyler Breeze and Fandango started their SmackDown Tag Team Championship feud with the Usos by starting “The Fashion Files,” a Law & Order parody segment that hilariously insulted Jimmy and Jey Uso. The champions received several tickets throughout the segment, most notably for Jey-walking and Jimmy-walking.
  10. Samoa Joe (-)
Just like Finn Balor, Seth Rollins could’ve won the Raw main event, but Samoa Joe attacked him to ruin any chance Rollins had of winning.
  11. Asuka (-)
Ember Moon, Ruby Riot, and Nikki Cross were the last three competitors in the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal for the NXT Women’s Championship. Asuka decided that she didn’t want a #1 Contender, so she interfered and laid waste to all three of them.
  12. Dolph Ziggler (-)
The Showoff has been slowly building a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, and Ziggler faced Sin Cara this week on SmackDown Live to send the King of Strong Style a message. Ziggler wasn’t in total control during the match, but all he needed was one superkick for the win.
  13. Sin Cara (-)
Speaking of Sin Cara, this was the first week in several months that he appeared on WWE television. Showing a great display of power and agility, Sin Cara put on an impressive performance against Dolph Ziggler but ultimately ended up losing the match.
  14. Sheamus & Cesaro (-6)
After turning heel last Sunday at Payback, Sheamus and Cesaro explained their actions on Monday Night Raw. The Hardy Boyz interrupted them and tried to start a fight, but Sheamus and Cesaro decided to back away and fight on their own terms.
  15. Nikki Cross (+5)
The only female member of SAnitY is proving week after week that she deserves to be in the top of the NXT Women’s Division. Cross was in the final three for the NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Battle Royal, which only ended because Asuka interfered.
  16. Drew Gulak (-)
It has been a while since Drew Gulak competed in a match on 205 Live since he was busy protesting the high-risk wrestling style. Gulak competed against Mustafa Ali and proved his point by picking up a victory.
  17. Akira Tozawa (-)
Along with Jack Gallagher and Rich Swann, Akira Tozawa picked up a victory in a six-man tag team match on Raw. The following night, he made an impact, interrupting a Brian Kendrick interview by kicking him in the face.
  18. TJ Perkins (-)
Perkins, who is apparently just going by TJP from now on, is starting to get back to the top of the Cruiserweight Division. TJP assaulted Austin Aries on Raw after a loss, then he picked up a victory on 205 Live over the returning Lince Dorado.
  19. Apollo Crews (-)
Crews paired up with Titus O’Neil and is finally starting to get featured on television again. This week, he picked up a victory over Heath Slater.
  20. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (-)
The former Club members continued their unnecessarily long feud with Enzo Amore and Big Cass when Luke Gallows picked up a singles win over Smacktalker Skywalker.
  21. Hideo Itami (-)
In his first match since returning to NXT a couple weeks ago, Hideo Itami picked up an important victory over Kona Reeves.
  22. Roderick Strong (-)
Strong returns to the ring next week, but the “Who is Roderick Strong” video packages are doing a great job of helping the fans care about him beyond his matches.
  23. Tye Dillinger (-)
The Perfect 10 has said “goodbye” to NXT about five times already, and he made his return to SmackDown Live to defeat Aiden English.
  24. Noam Dar (-)
After weeks of being on the losing end of matches, Noam Dar finally was able to stick it to Rich Swann by defeating him cleanly on 205 Live. After the match, Dar got back together with his ex-girlfriend, Alicia Fox.
  25. Killian Dain (-)
Nikki Cross isn’t the only member of SAnitY doing well. Dain returned to singles action this week, destroying former United Kingdom Championship Tournament competitor Danny Burch.
  • New to the Rankings This Week: Killian Dain, Noam Dar, Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, Hideo Itami, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Apollo Crews, TJ Perkins, Akira Tozawa, Drew Gulak, Sin Cara, Dolph Ziggler, Asuka, Samoa Joe, The Welcoming Committee
  • Kicked off the Rankings: Bayley, Roman Reigns, Enzo Amore & Big Cass, Aleister Black, Drew McIntyre, Naomi, Charlotte, Tyler Bate, Kalisto, Austin Aries, Neville, Chris Jericho, The Hardy Boyz, Braun Strowman, AJ Styles
