WWE Rumors and News: Mark Henry Injury Update, New Network Show

There have been a lot of rumors and news surrounding WWE as of late, so here is the breakdown. Remember, take the rumors with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed.

Rumors

Wade Barrett to possibly leave WWE this summer
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, King Barrett (previously known as Wade Barrett and “Bad News” Barrett) will not re-sign with WWE when his contract expires in the summer of this year. The former Nexus leader has had frequent injuries in recent history, and while he has been on WWE television over the past several weeks, it seems that he is just an on-screen character while nagging injuries heal.

Hopefully this isn’t the case, since Barrett is one of the best performers on the roster, and could easily get over again with the “Bad News Barrett” gimmick. If this rumor turns true, we can only wish the best for Barrett in whatever he does next.

News

Sasha Banks gets a new T-shirt
If you’re a fan of “The Boss” and have been wanting new merchandise, here it is. There is a new t-shirt of Banks herself (as seen above) on WWE Shop for $24.99.

New match announced for WWE Fastlane
WWE Fastlane is only five days away, and the card did not really seem complete when the “go-home” episode Monday Night Raw ended. The episode ended with Ryback, Big Show, and Kane all getting revenge on the Wyatt Family for attacking them in previous weeks. Earlier today, WWE announced that Ryback, Kane, and the Big Show will take on Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman at Fastlane in a six-man tag team match.

After announcing the match, WWE stated that:

Bray Wyatt and his clan of monsters have been targeting the giants of the squared circle in recent weeks. On the first Raw of 2016, the four apocalyptic warriors manhandled Ryback and Big Show, outmatching the giants and pummeling them into the canvas. In the 2016 Royal Rumble Match, Strowman put in an impressive showing, tossing out The World’s Largest Athlete and The Devil’s Favorite Demon. One night later, all four members of the Family ganged up on Kane after Wyatt’s victory over The Big Red Monster, with Strowman squeezing the life out of Kane before sending him into a double chokeslam at the hands of Harper & Rowan.

Mark Henry confirms rib injury
This week on Monday Night Raw, Mark Henry faced Big E in a singles match. Big E was setting up for the Big Ending when Mark Henry awkwardly fell off of Big E’s shoulder and seemed to have injured himself. Although a brief explanation, Henry has seemed to confirm this on Twitter.

There are rumors that Henry will retire in the near future, so hopefully this does not keep him out long in what might be his last run.

WWE Announces Global Cruiserweight Series on the WWE Network
When fans remember the glory days of WCW and early 2000’s WWE, they tend to remember the great cruiserweight wrestlers of those days. Great matches were being showcased weekly, with the likes of Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and Dean Malenko. WWE seems to be bringing back an emphasis on cruiserweights with their new announcement of the Global Cruiserweight Series, set to debut Wednesday, July 13 at 9PM ET, right after NXT.

WWE’s announcement is as follows:

For the first time ever, WWE invites cruiserweights from all over the world to compete in the inaugural Global Cruiserweight Series. Thirty-two of the greatest in-ring competitors under 205 lbs. will descend upon Full Sail University in Orlando and collide over 10 weeks to earn the right to call themselves the best cruiserweight in the world.

Even Triple H commented on the groundbreaking announcement in an interview with PWInsider:

If you look at this tournament, it’s going to be a platform where somebody and it could be more than one person, is going to be seen as one of the best Cruiserweights in the world or the best Cruiserweight in the world. It’s a hell of a platform and it’s going to get bigger and better but just not sure 100% what that is.

This could be an amazing for WWE and the wrestling world as a whole. There is a chance that this will only be talent that isn’t currently on WWE television, but it would be great to see Kalisto, Chad Gable, and Neville grapple with some of the best around the world.
