WWE Smackdown Recap: Here We Go Again

With Money in the Bank only two weeks away, this is going to be another run-of-the-mill Smackdown. Becky Lynch will take on Dana Brooke, Dean Ambrose will take on Chris Jericho, and there is sure to be more involving the Pay-Per-View participants.

Opening Segment
The start off the show, AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson come down to the ring. Styles addresses his match at Money in the Bank against John Cena, saying that since there is a brand extension coming up in July, this might be the only time that these two face off. They start referencing the fatal four-way Tag Team Championship match, which involves Gallows and Anderson, when they are interrupted by Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Enzo and Cass, who are also in the fatal four-way Tag Team Championship match, take The Club to promo class before the two teams square off.

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson
Before the match starts, The New Day comes to ringside to join the commentary team, along with a broom to “clean up the tag team division.” With this being the first time both of these teams have ever faced each other, a victory here is critical going into Money in the Bank.

During the match, The Vaudevillains come down to the ring, and The New Day stops the Vaudevillains from attacking Enzo Amore and Big Cass. This turns into chaos with all four teams battling it out, ending with Enzo and Cass standing tall in the middle of the ring.

Cesaro & Sami Zayn vs. Alberto Del Rio & Kevin Owens
All four of these competitors will be participating in the Money in the Bank ladder match, so a win for either team could give the victors much needed momentum.

During the match, Kevin Owens starts heading to the back and is chased by Sami Zayn, turning this into a singles match between Cesaro and Alberto Del Rio. After several minutes go by, the brawl between Owens and Zayn makes its way back to the ring.

Del Rio hits the double stomp on Cesaro, and Owens tag himself in to take advantage and get the pin. Winners: Alberto Del Rio & Kevin Owens

Becky Lynch (w/Natalya) vs. Dana Brooke (w/Charlotte)
Natalya and Becky Lynch have had their problems with the Women’s Champion and her “protege,” and the tension has only grown between the two pairs. On Monday Night Raw, Lynch and Natalya interrupted a Charlotte promo, and were attacked by Brooke and Charlotte to end the segment.

During the match, Natalya and Charlotte fight outside the ring and the referee sends them to the back. Without anybody at ringside, Becky Lynch locks in the Disarm-her on Dana Brooke to pick up the victory. Winner (via submission): Becky Lynch

Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin
Before the match starts, Dolph Ziggler joins the commentary team to scout Corbin, who Ziggler has been feuding with for way too long. Corbin and Ziggler have faced each other multiple times, with their most recent collision ending after Ziggler low blowed Corbin at the start of their match.

Corbin has an impressive showing against the former two-time United States Champion, ending it with the End of Days for the win. Winner: Baron Corbin

Backstage Segment
Sheamus is bragging about his role in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and he is interrupted by Apollo Crews who clocks him in the jaw.

Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho
This match is renewing a rivalry, according to Michael Cole, even though they faced each other in an Asylum match at Extreme Rules. Both of these men will compete in the Money in the Bank match along with Cesaro, Del Rio, Owens, and Zayn, and as usual, a win here could build momentum going into the Pay-Per-View.

Chris Jericho pushes Ambrose towards referee Charles Robinson, and Ambrose stops in his tracks. Jericho takes advantage to hit the Codebreaker on The Lunatic Fringe for the win. Winner: Chris Jericho

After the match, Jericho sets a ladder up in the corner to hurt Ambrose, but Ambrose turns the tables, using Jericho’s ladder against him.
