Yankees are the Most Valuable Franchise, Kershaw Returns and More

Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports

Start spreading the news: The New York Yankees are Major League Baseball’s most valuable franchise, according to the annual Forbes report. And the Miami Marlins, run by Yankees great Derek Jeter, are the least valuable. Wait — does it really count as news if it’s so unsurprising? Anyway, Clayton Kershaw is set to return for the second-most valuable franchise, the Dodgers, and speaking of value, Nick Markakis is missing some items worth a significant amount.

Wait, the Yankees have a lot of money? And the Marlins have none? It’s like the past 10 years never happened.

The Dodgers are off to a great start as they seek a third straight National League pennant, and now they’re getting Clayton Kershaw back. That seems good.

Burglars broke into Nick Markakis’ home in Atlanta and made out with a safe that included firearms and $20,000 in cash. Yikes.

The underrated Matt Carpenter has been a major reason the Cardinals have continued to be successful, and now he’s signed through 2022.

Trevor Rosenthal has returned from missing all of the 2018 season with Tommy John surgery, but he hadn’t recorded an out in four appearances before Wednesday, when he finally was able to get his own ERA.
