Jasson Domínguez left Thursday’s game against the Rangers in a cart after crashing into the outfield wall while catching a Brandon Nimmo drive, the report says. Domínguez was playing in the outfield for the Yankees for the second time this season, per the report.
The report says Domínguez ran 81 feet to make the play on Nimmo’s 101 mph shot and gloved the ball 375 feet from the plate before his left shoulder and head struck a video advertising board. His sunglasses flew off as he fell to the warning track chest first, the report adds.
Center fielder Trent Grisham came over immediately, and manager Aaron Boone jogged out to check on Domínguez while the team’s medical staff attended. The report says head athletic trainer Tim Lentych, assistant athletic trainer Jimmy Downam and director of sports medicine and rehabilitation Michael Schuk were on the field.
Per the report, Domínguez cupped his head in his glove and sat up after about a minute. He pointed to his shoulder and craned his neck as he was examined, then walked to a cart under his own power and was seated as the cart drove away.
The report says the Yankees made immediate defensive substitutions following the play. Cody Bellinger moved from right to left, Amed Rosario switched from third base to right, and Ryan McMahon entered the game at third.
