The 2023 championship format is announced by the DI Women’s Basketball Committee

The preparation for the 2022–23 season and championship was a major focus of last week’s annual summer meeting of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee. The 2023 championship regional rounds will switch to a two-host structure, with eight participating teams playing at Greenville, South Carolina’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena, and eight at Seattle, Washington’s Climate Pledge Arena.

Each location will host two regional semifinal games on March 24 and two on March 25, the committee said. A regional championship game will also be played at each site on March 26 and 27.

The 2023 championship’s 68 teams will be revealed on Selection Sunday, March 12, as part of the ESPN selection program, the committee further stated. The first four games of the 2023 championship’s first round will be played on the campuses of the top 16 seeds on March 15 and 16. The site selection, which continues to be based on bracketing principles, is the only item that remained constant.
