MLB odds:   The New York Yankees may have a huge payroll, glorious history, and perpetually high expectations but that has not been reflected on the diamond or the betting board this year as they are struggling with a .500 mark and red ink for their backers.  The Yankees are an overlay during the best of times and when they are not winning it’s an expensive proposition.  The Oakland A’s have been one of the best bets on the board in any sport the past three seasons and are again a great value both on the money and run lines.

The Oakland A’s will host the New York Yankees at the O.co Coliseum on Saturday night with coverage on MLBN starting at 10:05 PM ET.

Bronx Bankroll Bombers

The Yankees have a multitude of problems as they rank 19th for run production and 21st for earned run average.  New York ranks 20th for home runs and 19th for quality starts with a bullpen that ranks 24th.  It all adds up to a mediocre look that has been turning gamblers away.

Grade A’s

The Oakland A’s were 17-12 at home and 35-28 on the run line while going under the total in just 11 out of 29 home games.  Oakland ranks best in MLB for both run production and earned run average.

The Pick

The A’s have won 7 out of their last 8 home games against the Yankees with 6 out of the last 8 games at Oakland between the A’s and Yankees going under the total.  Oakland has the look and form of a champion and seems no longer intimidated by the Yankees, as proven earlier this month when they took 2 out of 3 at New York.  Oakland gets our call.
