Baseball Betting: One of the regional games on Fox television on Saturday night has the Pittsburgh Pirates visiting the Cincinnati Reds. The two teams are trying to make up ground in the NL Central on the Milwaukee Brewers. When the Pirates and Reds get together it is oftentimes a strange series with the road team doing quite well. The Pirates will look for another road win on Saturday as they send Charlie Morton to the mound. Let’s look at the matchup and baseball predictions.
Probable Pitchers – Morton vs. Leake
Charlie Morton pitched well on Monday but he got a no-decision against the St. Louis Cardinals. He shut them out for seven innings and allowed just one hit and struck out five. He has worked at least six innings in each of his last six starts. His overall record is just 5-9 but he has good ERA for the season at 3.10.
Mike Leake got a win last time out against the Chicago Cubs as he allowed two earned runs and nine hits in seven innings. He is now 7-7 on the season with a 3.42 ERA. In his last three starts he is 2-1 with a 2.61 ERA. Leake has been solid in his career against the Pirates with a 6-3 record and a 3.40 ERA.
Series Notes
This has been a strange series as the road team has done quite well. The Reds did win two of three at home back in early April but since then the road team has dominated. The Reds took three of four in Pittsburgh in late April and then last month they won two of three in Pittsburgh. The Pirates have won six of the last ten in Cincinnati with two of the last three going over. Normally in baseball the home team wins more often than not but that has not been the case lately when the Reds and Pirates meet.
Baseball Predictions
We’ll go with the trends in this one and take the Pirates as road underdogs and also look for the game to go under the baseball betting total.
