America’s Got Talent: 8/22 Recap

America's Got Talent

This was an important episode of America’s Got Talent. Of course, as the field begins to narrow, all the episodes are important. Seven acts will make it to the semi-finals and five will be eliminated from America’s Got Talent.

First we find out which three acts are part of the Dunkin’ Save vote: Da Republik, Front Pictures, and Mikaela Philips. They are all part of a live save and we will see who gets saved by the end of the recap.

Tyra calls up singer Noah Guthrie, sound effect guys Yumbo Dump, and dancers Quin and Misha. The first semifinalist to go through is Noah Guthrie. Thank god. If it was Yumbo Dump, I might have had to stop this recap. Thank you America for saving me.

There are six spots left on this edition of America’s Got Talent. Tyra calls up the Voices of Hope Childrens Choir and the Savitsky Cats. After a long, long, long, long pause, the next act going through to the semi-finals is Voices of Hope.

Next up on America’s Got Talent is a weird segment with Simon trying to find the newly-single Tyra Banks a date. I guess you have to fill time somehow, right? Glad I had this DVR’d because it was kind of funny for a bit and then it was just weird. Press the fast-forward button.

Slots are filling up fast and now Tyra calls up comedian Samuel Comroe and singer Glynnis Grace. I really like both of them but in this duo I lean toward Comroe. The next act going through to the America’s Got Talent semi-finals is … BOTH OF THEM! Wow, they sometimes do that with the kids, but this is good. Oh, how funny. Glynnis didn’t realize Tyra said both and started walking off. When she was told that it was her too, she mouthed, ‘What the f*ck!” right into the camera! Howie gives them both some advice and especially tells Glynnis “watch your mouth.” I love Howie.

There are two spots left – The Sacred Rianna, who is a seriously creepy magician, and aerialists Duo Transcend. They are called up together and only one will go through. Oh no, this is hard. Even though Mel doesn’t like Rianna, well nobody does because she’s scary as all hell, she honestly deserves her own horror show. At the same time, I love Duo Transcend. They are talented and love each other so much.

Yes! It’s Duo Transcend who go to the semi-finals. Rianna walked away while Simon put up the cross. Ha.

So now one of the Dunkin’ Save acts will go through to the America’s Got Talent semi-finals and join the rest of those who have already advanced. There is just a .01 percent difference of voting between two of the acts. The act who went through is Makayla Phillips. Two acts are left and one of them can be saved by the judges. So how did they vote?

Heidi: Da Republik
Mel B: Da Republik
Howie: Front Pictures
Sion: Da Republik

Da Rupublik advances to the next round of America’s Got Talent.

So far, I really like the comedians, as well as Duo Transcend. Of course, there is Courtney Hadwin from last week’s competition who is truly the frontrunner of the competition. The only problem is that Hadwin, who has been portrayed as shy, also competed on The Voice UK. I honestly don’t care because she didn’t win, but who knows what puts the internet into an uproar. I still think her following is as strong as her talent. Until next week.
