The Bears come in on a high note after thoroughly outplaying the TCU Horned Frogs in their last game, 90-64. Baylor’s offensive rebounding percentage was their biggest advantage over TCU. The Bears had a rate of 50.0 (above their season average of 38.0), while the Horned Frogs posted a mark of 30.6. Baylor was led by Makai Mason, who was the game’s leading scorer with 40 points on 14-for-20 shooting.

The last time the Longhorns were in action, they fell to the No. 20 Iowa State Cyclones, 65-60. Iowa State’s 14.3 turnover percentage was their biggest strength over Texas, who had a mark of 17.6. The Cyclones’ mark was worse than their season average of 14.1. Kerwin Roach II put together a good performance for Texas, leading both teams in scoring with 19 points on 5-for-15 shooting.

After the Bears won both matchups against the Longhorns last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. In the last matchup, Baylor won 74-73. Baylor had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (44.1 vs. 32.6). Texas, meanwhile, had a much better turnover percentage (5.8 vs. 15.1).

Both teams have had a player take their game to the next level over their last five games. Mason (17 points,3.2 assists) has been fantastic for the Bears while Roach II (16 points,3.2 assists) has made solid contributions to the Longhorns.

Half-court execution will be critical when a pair of the nation’s slowest-paced teams clash. Texas ranks 258th in possessions per game (67.9) and Baylor is 314th (66.7).
