The Favorites

Dustin Johnson +650

D.J. edged out Tommy Fleetwood by a single stroke to win this event a year ago. Johnson used his power and accuracy to take advantage of the longer holes and he had no problem putting his way to victory. After already picking up his first win of 2018, Johnson appears to be in excellent form heading in to this year’s WGC- Mexico Championship. It’s no surprise that he is listed as the sports betting favorite to win here once again.

Justin Thomas +800

Thomas is coming off a big win at The Honda Classic last week and should get plenty of attention at the WGC- Mexico Championship. Thomas has now won seven of his last 31 starts. Plus, it’s impossible to forget how good he looked early on here last year when he led the field through the first 54 holes at this event. The world No. 3 has as good of a shot to win as anybody else in this week’s field.

Next In Line

Jon Rahm +1200

Rahm ended 2017 with a win on the European Tour and he began 2018 with a win on the PGA Tour so he is in excellent form heading in to this week’s WGC- Mexico Championship. Rahm should be well-rested heading in to this tournament so he should contend again at a venue where he can take advantage of his many strengths.

Jordan Spieth +1400

Spieth debated about participating in this year’s WGC- Mexico Championship before eventually deciding to sign up. While most consider this another tune-up for Spieth ahead of The Masters, he is just as capable of winning this event as anybody else in the field. Spieth shot a 63 in the third round here last year and if he can play at a high level with a little more consistency he could contend. He’s a bit of a risk, but Spieth has the talent to at least finish among the top-10 while contending for another win this week.

Tommy Fleetwood +1600

Fleetwood finished second in this tournament a year ago and will be looking for redemption with a chance to pick up a win this week. The fact that he isn’t priced among the favorites makes him a decent value option to contend. Fleetwood is coming off a strong performance in his last start as well so he could be a viable betting option for this week’s WGC- Mexico Championship.

Sleeper Picks

Ross Fisher +5000

Fisher is a decent value play this week at +5000 odds to win this event outright. He has played well on the European Tour heading in to this week and he has all of the tools to put together another strong performance this week. While he might not actually win this event outright, Fisher is worth considering as a sleeper pick to finish among the top-five or top-10 at the WGC- Mexico Championship.

Patton Kizzire +10000

While it’s not a surprise that he isn’t among the sports betting favorites to win this event, Kizzire’s +10000 alone makes him worth taking a flier on as a sleeper pick. In addition to winning the Sony Open, Kizzire won the OHL Classic in Mexico and he finished second here on the Web.com Tour so he should be very comfortable playing in Mexico this week. At such long odds, it’s definitely worth throwing some money down on Kizzire as a sleeper pick this week.
