Several notable veterans remain unsigned as the NFL moves through the summer, and a recent evaluation identified ideal landing spots for seven of those players based on scheme fit, immediate help and cap considerations, according to ESPN.
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs is listed as an ideal match for the Los Angeles Rams, where he would line up alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. According to ESPN, the Rams threw 430 passes out of 11 personnel last season (ninth most in the league), and Diggs — who had 85 receptions last season for the Patriots — is seen as a natural separator who can work inside or outside and handle in-breaking concepts for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Interior lineman Kevin Zeitler is viewed as a fit for the San Francisco 49ers. ESPN notes Zeitler’s power to displace defensive tackles, his movement to pull on gap schemes that suit Kyle Shanahan’s system, and a 2025 pass block win rate that ranked 37th out of 65 qualifying guards (92.4%). Edge rusher Joey Bosa is also listed as a San Francisco target. ESPN points out Bosa played 36.3 snaps per game last season in Buffalo, finishing with five sacks, five forced fumbles and 42 pressures, and would provide depth to a 49ers pass rush that ranked last in pressure rate (24.9%) and total sacks (20) in 2025.
Deebo Samuel is named as a potential addition for the Indianapolis Colts. ESPN says Samuel, who caught 72 passes last season in Washington, would complement Alec Pierce and slot receiver Josh Downs in Shane Steichen’s offense and add designed touches such as screens and sweeps; Samuel and tight end Tyler Warren also ranked among the top 15 in yards after the catch last season. Defensive end A.J. Epenesa is listed as a fit for the Green Bay Packers, with ESPN noting the Packers lost rotational rusher Kingsley Enagbare in free agency and that Epenesa recorded 24.5 sacks and four interceptions in six seasons with the Bills.
Tackle Taylor Decker is identified as a possible competitor for the Miami Dolphins’ left tackle job. According to ESPN, Decker posted an 89.3% pass block win rate in 2025 with Detroit — the second-lowest rate of his 10-year career — but his toughness and experience could earn a starting role if he proves healthy, potentially competing with third-year pro Patrick Paul.
