British Boxing Odds For Saturday’s Fights – A pair of boxing shows on the British Isles are getting attention at the sports books for Saturday, April 22nd.

Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, the biggest promoters in the U.K., are at the Echo Arena in Liverpool with an eight fight card that sees popular veteran Martin Murray (34-4-1) headlining the card as he faces veteran Gabriel Rosado (23-10). Murray is 2-2 in his last four fights and he is looking to get back on the winning track against the trial horse Rosado, who is 2-4 in his last six fights while maintaining an extremely high level of competition.

The 168 pound super middleweight division sees the vacant British title being disputed between Rocky Fielding (23-1) and John Ryder (24-3). Fielding’s lone career loss came in a match for the same belt against Callum Smith back in November of 2015, while Ryder is moving up in weight class to take this opportunity.

Sean Dodd (12-2-1) and Lee Appleyard dispute the vacant Commonwealth belt at 135 pounds in the third twelve round bout of the evening. Dodd overcame a rough spell that saw him go 0-1-1 against rival Scott Cardle by winning two fights in a row. In his last outing he defended the WBC International lightweight title with a split decision win over Belgium’s Francesco Patera. Appleyard is also on a two fight winning streak since his September of 2016 loss to Chris Conwell. The fight is the most competitive of the matches posted at the books.

Frank Warren and his Queensbury Promotions are at the Leicester Arena with a big fourteen fight boxing card that sees an interim WBO world title at 160 pounds in play for the main event as unbeaten Tommy Langford (18-0) takes on veteran Avtandil Khurtsidze (32-2-2) over twelve rounds. Langford went 3-0 in 2016, winning a handful of regional titles to earn this shot at a world belt, while Khurtsidze’s lone career loss came in a match for an Interim WBA world title against Hassan N’Dam N’jikam of France back in October of 2010. He has won 9 fights in a row since then.

Joe Hughes (15-2) challenges Tyrone Nurse (34-2-1) for Nurse’s British title at super light weight. Nurse won the vacant belt back in November of 2015 when he defeated Chris Jenkins and he has successfully defended the belt twice already. Hughes got here by virtue of his December win over Andy Keates that saw him grab the English title at 140 pounds.

The Zolani Tete (24-3) vs Arthur Villanueva (30-1) bantamweight bout originally scheduled for last weekend is set to go down and the winner will be the next #1 contender for the WBO world title at 118 pounds. Despite the delay and the move of venue, the line remains very similar, with Tete a major favorite.
