Calvin will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this summer

Logan Calvin, a redshirt senior thrower, will participate in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday, June 8 at 8:40 p.m. CT (6:40 p.m. PT) at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, for the first time since 2015. ESPN3 will broadcast the competition live. If you don’t have access to this channel, you may get real-time information by visiting the official NCAA website. This also applies to the championship’s other events.

Calvin is the fourth student-athlete in the history of Illinois State track and field to qualify for an NCAA Championship competition in the shot throw. Since Jianna Williams competed in the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships, he is the first to qualify. With a 15th-place finish, Williams received second-team All-America honors.

Curt Jensen qualified for both the 2014 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the men’s shot put, making him the last Redbird to compete in the event. With a pair of eighth-place performances, Jensen received first-team All-America accolades at both events. In both the indoor and outdoor events, he owns the school record.
