Changes to the NCAA transfer rules are being sent back to committee

On Wednesday, the NCAA’s D-I Board of Directors rejected a proposal to alter transfer policies for Division I collegiate athletes, including granting them unlimited chances to swap schools with instant eligibility.

The Division I Council last week advanced the transfer rule ideas, one of many that emerged from the NCAA’s Transformation Committee.

“We will revisit this subject at our upcoming meeting on August 31 since we have some questions regarding the transfer package that has been suggested,” said Jere Morehead, president and board chairman of the University of Georgia, in a statement. “Many of us have concerns about the impact name, image, and likeness is having on the transfer process and we want further analysis on that issue and its potential impact on graduation rates before taking action.” The committee has not yet released a statement.
