Chevrolet Indy Dual Detroit Race 1 Preview

IndyCar Odds: ABC will be televising the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit Race #1 on Saturday. The race will be held at Belle Isle in Detroit. Ryan Hunter-Reay will be one of the favorites after his win at the Indy 500 last weekend. Hunter-Reay now leads the IndyCar standings heading into the weekend action. Other contenders on Saturday to win the first Dual will be Will Power who is second in the points, Helio Castroneves who is currently third in the standings, Simon Pagenaud who is fourth and Marco Andretti who is fifth. Here is a look at the race and IndyCar predictions.

Belle Island

The Chevy Indy Dual in Detroit races takes place at Belle Island which is a 982-acre island in the Detroit River. It is managed by the Detroit Department of Parks and Recreation.  The course held the Detroit Grand Prix from 1992-2001, it hosted the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2007 and 2008 but then the event was not held for four years. It made a comeback in 2012 and in 2013 the event was held on the newly-reconfigured 2.35-mile Belle Isle street circuit. Belle Island is connected to Detroit by the MacArthur Bridge. The island also includes a swimming beach, the only one in Detroit, and an aquarium which is the oldest in the United States.

The Belle Island track is a 2.34-mile, 13-turn street circuit which features hard braking zones and fast straights.

Tony Kanaan won at Belle Isle in 2007, Justin Wilson won in 2008, Scott Dixon in 2012 and Simon Pagenaud in 2013.

IndyCar Picks

Last year it was Mike Conway and Simon Pagenaud getting the two wins in the Indy Dual Detroit races. It could be Pagenaud who contends again and we may get him at double-digit IndyCar odds at the sportsbook. I will take a shot with Pagenaud and I will also go with Will Power.
