The Chicago Cubs are ready to play the New York Mets at Citi Field. This NL matchup will be nationally broadcasted on Fox and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET.

Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets Odds

New York (-130) is hosting this game as the favorite over Chicago (+120) and Vegas has the Over/Under for this game at 7.5 runs. The odds for wagering on the game’s total sit at -105 for the over and -115 for the under. You can also wager on the game’s spread with the runline odds sitting at Cubs +1.5 runs (-175) and Mets -1.5 runs (+155).

The Cubs have gone 31-23 SU this year and are 25-28 against the spread (ATS). They’ve lost 4.4 units for moneyline bettors and 3.1 units ATS. The Mets, on the other hand, are 27-28 SU and 26-27 ATS. The team has lost 3.7 units for moneyline bettors and 1.1 units ATS.

As a unit, New York’s pitchers have given up 4.6 runs per game overall in 2018. Its starters have a 4.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings. The bullpen has a 4.56 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 8.9 K/9.

The New York offense is putting up 4.2 runs per contest, including 4.7 per game over its last 10 games and 4.6 per game over its last five. The team has slashed .253/.333/.431 over its last five games and is 2-3 SU during that span.

Second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera and shortstop Amed Rosario have led the Mets’ offense this year. Cabrera is slashing .302/.345/.524 with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs and 30 runs scored, while Rosario’s line is .254/.285/.379 with three homers, 18 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Cabrera didn’t seem to enjoy hitting against left-handed pitching at home last year. Across 59 such plate appearances, he slashed .268/.288/.286 (his total season line was .280/.351/.434).

For the visiting squad, Chicago’s pitching staff allowed 3.7 runs per game and its starting pitchers own a 3.72 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 8.27 K/9. The bullpen has logged an excellent ERA of just 2.72, along with a WHIP of 1.33 and a K/9 of 9.04.

The Cubs offense has slashed .266/.349/.438 on its way to 5.3 runs scored per game in 2018, including 4.7 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 5.6 per game over the team’s last five outings (4-1 SU).

Third baseman Kris Bryant and second baseman Javier Baez continue to lead Chicago’s offense. Bryant is slashing .295/.409/.528 with eight home runs, 28 RBIs and 32 runs scored, while Baez is hitting .267/.300/.553 with 13 homers, 43 RBIs, 33 runs and seven stolen bases.

The Cubs have lost 6.0 units and are 18-22 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher this season. The over has hit in 16 of those games, as opposed to 23 that’ve gone under in such games. On the other hand, the Mets have lost 2.2 units and are 8-7 ATS when facing a left-handed starting pitcher. The over has hit in six of those games, as opposed to nine which went under the total.
