Of course, it all comes down to your definition of “generous,” but the Dallas Cowboys let it be known that its offers to quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back Ezekiel Elliott should all qualify for the adjective.

It seems that none of the players agree as not one of them has signed these “generous” offers and Elliott is holding out.

According to reports, the Cowboys aren’t willing to budge much and could let all three play this season for a “prove it” deal. That might be smart with Cooper, who’s played well in his four years in the league, but hasn’t shown he should be near the top of the wide receiver pay scale. It wouldn’t be smart at all with Prescott, who is 32-16 as a starter and gave the team its first playoff victory since 2014.

As for Elliott, he’s the catalyst for the entire offense and while Prescott and Cooper might be willing to “prove it,” there’s no guarantee Elliott will show up at all this season.

Sean Lee on track for return

Sean Lee is one of the best linebackers in football when he’s on the field. His problem, across the span of his career, is that he has trouble staying on the field. Last year Lee only played in seven games, recording 30 tackles, one for a loss, one fumble recovery and a pass defense.

He’s never played a full 16-game season since the team drafted him in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft out of Penn State. In spite of that, he’s a two-time Pro Bowler and a 2016 All Pro.

Now dealing with an MCL sprain, he’s feeling pretty good about his quick return.

“This is one of the more minor things I’ve dealt with,” Lee said. “We’re just making sure it heals and I can come back and practice right… I’m sure I’ll be out here pretty soon.”
