The Prudential Center is playing host to an East-West clash as the Dallas Stars pay a visit to New Jersey to face the Devils. Fox Sports Southwest will broadcast the matchup, which gets going at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 16.

Dallas Stars at New Jersey Devils Odds

With a moneyline of -130, New Jersey comes into the matchup as the favorite. The line for Dallas sits at +110 and the Over/Under (O/U) is set at 6 goals. The odds for betting the total sit at -115 for the over and -105 for the under.

New Jersey is 3-0 straight up (SU) and has earned 3.0 units for moneyline bettors this season. That winning percentage, ranked first in the league in this young season, is an improvement over the 44-38 record from the 2017-18 season campaign. The team’s 3-0 SU at home this year.

The Devils have successfully converted on 21.4 percent of their power play chances in 2018-19. That mark hasn’t moved a lot from last season, when they were ranked 14th in the league by scoring on 21.0 percent of their extra-man chances. Their penalty kill has improved nicely year-over-year as they’ve gone from successfully defending 81.2 percent of opponents’ power plays (ranked 10th overall last season) to 90.9 percent this year.

As a team, the Devils have been penalized 4.0 times per game this season, a number that’s pretty close to last year’s 3.8 penalties per game they surrendered. After serving an average of 9.1 penalty minutes per game a year ago, the team’s had to kill penalties for 8.0 minutes per outing this season.

Averaging 25.0 saves per game with a .949 save percentage, the undefeated Keith Kinkaid (3-0) has been the best goalkeeper for the Devils this season.

The Devils will continue relying on leadership from Kyle Palmieri and Damon Severson. Palmieri has found the net six times while Severson has three assists to his credit so far in the early stages of the season.

Dallas is 3-2 straight up (SU) and has earned moneyline bettors 1.8 units this year. Through five regular season contests, two of its games has gone over the total, while one has gone under the total and one has pushed.

The Stars have recorded a goal on 46.7 percent of their power play chances this year after converting on 19.3 percent of their extra-man opportunities in 2017-18 (a percentage that was just below league average). The team has gone from killing off 80.9 percent of opponent power plays (ranked 13th overall last season) to 75.0 percent this year.

Dallas’ skaters have been whistled for penalties 3.2 times per game this season. Last year, that number was at 4.2, which was the fourth-highest mark in the league. After serving an average of 10.1 penalty minutes per game a year ago (fifth-most in the league), the team’s been forced to kill penalties for just 7.0 minutes per matchup this season.

Ben Bishop (2.56 goals against average and .913 save percentage) has been the primary option in goal for Dallas. Bishop is averaging 26.3 saves per game and has two wins and two losses to his credit.

For the visiting Stars, the offense will run through Tyler Seguin (three goals, seven assists) and Alexander Radulov (four goals, six assists).
