That win percentage, the second-best in the Central Division so far this season, is a big slide from what the team managed during the 2017-18 season (52-30). After serving an average of 8.6 penalty minutes per game a year ago, the team’s been forced to stave off opponent power plays for a noteworthy 18.6 minutes per outing this season.

Averaging 28.5 saves per game with a .919 save percentage, Connor Hellebuyck (2-2) has been the primary option in goal for the Jets this season. If head coach Paul Maurice chooses to give him a breather, however, the Jets may turn to Laurent Brossoit (1-0 record, .977 save percentage, 1.00 goals against average).

The Jets will continue looking for leadership via Kyle Connor and Josh Morrissey. Connor (five points) has put up four goals and one assist while Morrissey has four assists to his credit so far in the season’s early going.
