Man, do I get sick of writing stories like this. A 27-year-old exotic dancer from the Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club (i.e. a strip club0 has accused second-year Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor of rape.

According to the report, the assault happened around 3 p.m. Thursday after the Eagles had completed their OTAs at the NovaCare Complex, right down the street from Cheerleaders.

The Eagles were contacted about the investigation and released a statement.

“We are aware of the police investigation involving Nelson Agholor,” the Eagles said through spokesman Derek Boyko. “The organization has been in contact with Nelson and with the proper authorities in Philadelphia. Because of the legal nature of this matter, we will have no further comment.”

The Philly police commissioner did have some comments, however, mostly just acknowledging that an investigation was underway.

“There was an allegation made against one of the (Philadelphia Eagles) players of a sexual assault that was reported by one of the female dancers,” Commissioner Richard Ross told Philadelphia Magazine. “Our Special Victims Unit is actively running on the investigation.”

Agholor wasn’t alone at the club. Eagles defensive end Connor Barwin and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox were both with him, according to a report.

Barwin released a statement of his own.

“As a result of my name being mention in conjunction with this alleged incident, I would like to clarify that I was only present at the establishment for a very short period of time,” Barwin said. “And have no knowledge about anything that happened after I left the establishment. I stopped there for about a half hour to meet my teammates and left around 2:30 p.m.”

As of this writing, Agholor has not been charged with a crime. He has, however, enlisted the services for Forunato Perri Jr., a Philadelphia defense attorney. Perri released a statement as well.

“Nelson has not engaged in any criminal conduct,” Perri communicated via email. “We’re confident that he will not be charged with a crime.”

Agholor was a first-round pick out of USC last season. He caught 23 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown.

Rams lose back-up defensive lineman to torn ACL

He’s not exactly a household name and I can’t find evidence he played a down of football last season, but you can go ahead and make that two seasons as Los Angeles Rams reserve defensive lineman Louis Trinca-Pasat tore his ACL in practice on Thursday.

The Rams will most likely put Trinca-Pasat on injured reserve. Los Angeles signed Trinca-Pasat as an undrafted free agent last season out of Iowa. In his senior season with the Hawkeyes he recorded 69 tackles, 12.5 for a loss, seven sacks and three passes defended. At 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds Trinca-Pasat had a good chance of making the roster again, especially since the Rams had a small-sized draft and focused almost entirely on offense.

Manny Ramirez retires, no, not that Manny Ramirez

While he shared the same name with the controversial potential baseball Hall-of-Famer, his career went on a slightly different trajectory. This Manny Ramirez was a 33-year-old offensive guard who enjoyed a nice, eight-year career with the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos.

Ramirez played both guard position and center in his career. His most notable season at center was in 2013 when he was part of the record-setting Denver Broncos offense led by Peyton Manning. Ramirez was a fourth-round pick by the Lions back in 2007. He signed with Denver as a free agent in 2011, then returned to Detroit for his final season last year. He started seven games for Lions at all three interior line positions.

NFL adds “hoodie rule”

Really, this rule on affects one guy and right now he’s not even on an NFL roster. Nonetheless, former Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones’ decision to wear a hoodie under his jersey in the arctic conditions of Lambeau Field forced the NFL’s ruler-slapping hand. No more will a player warm himself with a hoodie under his jersey.

The reason? The hood covers up his nameplate. That’s it. Sorry James. Maybe just go with a crew-neck this year.
