Everything that occurred on the opening night of DI men’s college soccer

On Thursday, the 2022 DI men’s soccer season began with 19 rated teams competing, including two head-to-head top 25 contests. A few upsets around the nation quickly called into doubt several teams’ preseason rankings. Here is everything from a chaotic first night of men’s soccer that you could have missed.

In the main contest of the evening, the Panthers defeated the 2021 College Cup semi finals 2-1 despite traveling to the nation’s capital for an early-season litmus test. Pitt retaliated in a matter of seconds after going down 1-0 after only four minutes. Bertin Jacquesson, a young striker, may have been trying a cross, but he will undoubtedly take credit for the goal.

The Panthers seized the lead in the 10th minute through Valentin Noel, almost immediately after they had equalized. Both players quickly established their 2022 accounts because they were the team’s leading scorers in 2021. In the closing seconds, Georgetown was given a penalty, but it was removed following the VAR review.
