Since LeBron James announced his plan to join the Lakers, pundits have speculated that Lonzo Ball could be on his way out. But a recent report indicated LeBron is “excited” to play with Lonzo. LaVar Ball certainly thinks he should be.

In a new interview with Overtime, LaVar — who had long predicted LBJ would sign with the purple and gold, repeatedly calling him “LA-Bron” — shared his perspective on how the two players will co-exist. He said LeBron will love playing with the eldest Ball son. LaVar also shaded Celtics guard Kyrie Iriving for being smaller than Lonzo. (Kyrie is 6-foot-3 and Lonzo is 6-foot-6.)

“Lonzo’s going to get along with anybody he plays with,” Lavar said. “He’s just got that special gift. And LeBron is going to be fine with that on the fact that Lonzo’s not 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2 like Kyrie. Lonzo’s not ball dominant where he just dribbling the ball and you watching him trying to do a crossover and make a layup down the lane. Anybody would enjoy playing with my boy. He’s always been like that.”

As usual, the patriarch of the Ball household didn’t mince words. He seems to believe his son is actually better than Kyrie.

Lonzo’s Position

LaVar said Lonzo will still play the point. He foresees his son dishing assists to King James.

“Lonzo ain’t going to play off the ball,” LaVar explained. “How’s LeBron going to play point? Lonzo will be pushing and he get it out of his hands too quick. Lonzo don’t do all that dribbling. All he got to do is run the lane and the pass going to be right on the money.”

It seems he thinks Lonzo and LeBron will be a match made in hoops heaven because of each player’s outstanding passing ability.

“We going to play so fast, he’ll throw him touchdown passes and be scoring all day,” LaVar said. “And then when he don’t, he going to throw the long pass and Lonzo will shoot the three-pointer very easy.”

The Lakers are the second favorite, behind the Warriors, to win next year’s title, according to BetDSI Sportsbook.
