Live Blog: Boxing on CBS Sports Net – Gutierrez vs Brock

Brock and Gutierrez face off tonight in Las Vegas.

We’re staying up late on the east coast tonight for boxing, with a prospect show and a lightweight title on the line.

In the main event Demond Brock (11-3-1, 4 KOs) defends his WBC United States lightweight title against undefeated Jesus Gutierrez (14-0-1, 4 KOs) at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center in, you guessed it, Las Vegas.

It’s a two-hour show with some short undercards. The primary is a middleweight fight between Rolando Garza (8-0, 6 KOs) against Erasmo Garcis (5-0-1, 3 KOs) in a fight that could pretty much determine the next year or so of each guy’s life.

As usual, scroll on down for the live blog. Keep reading for the press release from CBS Sports Net.

Fight fans are in for a special treat next weekend with the Knockout Night at the D featuring grudge match with Las Vegas favorite Chuy Gutierrez going up against Demond Brock live on CBS Sports Network June 10 at the outdoor Downtown Las Vegas Event Center (DLVEC), promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.

“Brock versus Chuy has been a fight in the making for years and now the dream is a ralit,” said Keith Veltre, CEO/Co-Founder of Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions. “As Brock defends his title, Chuy will fight to the end and regain the title that he let lapse. This fight promises to be an all-out war and the winner will move into a national spotlight. Thanks to the ‘Knockout Night at the D’ series, Derek Stevenson is giving Las Vegas prospects an opportunity to make a national presence.”

35-year-old Brock (11-3-1, 4 KOs) has never lost his belt in the ring, but this fight will set the stage for a Las Vegas showdown fight fans will never forget. Both fighters are from Las Vegas and have a huge fan base, so you can expect a gun slinging battle to prove who the belt belongs to. Brock learned to box while serving a 14 ½ year sente3nce for armed robbery, winning 39 of 40 fights in prison with 17 knockouts eventually finishing his amateur career with an impressive 54-3 record. No doubt this is a challenging fight for Chuy, but fight fans that have seen him knock opponents out in less than a minute in the first round are not intimidated by Brock’s outstanding record.

Chuy is originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, home of hall of famer Julio Cesar Chavez. Boxing found Chuy on the baseball field while attending college at Southern Nevada. Chuy has always had big dreams of becoming a major league baseball player, but when he walked into Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Boxing gym at the prime age of 21, he knew this was his future. Chuy turned pro in 2010 and instantly became a fan favorite with his aggressive and entertaining style of fighting. After winning a majority decision over Rashad Ganaway in 2014 for the vacant USNBC lightweight crown, now Chuy wants his belt back and is determined to take it from Brock.

CBS Sports Network is available across the country through local cable, video and telco providers, as well as via satellite on DirecTV Channel 221 and Dish Network Channel 158.

The show starts at 11 p.m. EST. We’ll pick up the action when the second fight starts. Watch it with me.
