Lucha Underground S1E15 Recap: Chavo Guerrero Quits

Photo from El Rey Network

On last week’s episode of Lucha Underground, we saw the Lucha Underground debut of AAA World Heavyweight Champion Albero El Patron (He is currently wrestling as Alberto Del Rio in WWE), which was ruined by the man who El Patron beat for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship, El Texano Jr.. We also saw a developing relationship with Fenix and Catrina (Mil Muertes’s valet), as well as Pentagon Jr. declaring that his defeat of Ricky Mandel was to provide a sacrifice for his master.

Tonight’s episode features “The Man of 1,000 Deaths,” Mil Muertes, facing Chavo Guerrero.

This recap is part of a series that is recapping the entirety of Lucha Underground. If you would like to catch up on previous recaps, click here for the recap of the last episode. Currently, Lucha Underground airs Wednesdays on El Rey Network, and is now available on iTunes.

Mil Muertes vs. Chavo Guerrero
Catrina’s attraction to Fenix has led to Mil Muertes noticeably entering by himself. Chavo Guerrero stopped Mil Muertes from attacking Blue Demon Jr. several months ago, and Mil Muertes is out to get some revenge. Last week, there was some tension between Muertes and Catrina, where Muertes said that he needed nothing.

During the match, Catrina appears at the top of the stands and walks down to the ring, holding a mysterious stone. Muertes makes eye contact with Catrina, and follows her movements as she drags the stone on the ring apron.

While Mil Muertes is distracted, Chavo Guerrero gets a chair and hits Muertes from behind. Winner (via disqualification): Mil Muertes

Mil Muertes no-sells the chair shot, and hits Chavo Guerrero with a Flatliner onto the same chair that Guerrero brought into the ring. Muertes orders Catrina into the ring, and he orders her to do the Lick of Death on Chavo Guerrero, and Catrina refuses. Mil Muertes goes for the Flatliner on Catrina, but Fenix comes to make the save, then Fenix and Catrina kiss right in the view of Mil Muertes.

Backstage Segment
Dario Cueto is in his office with Bael, Mr. Cisco, and Cortez Castro, commending “The Crew” for their impressive destruction of the likes of Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo, and Big Ryck over the last few months. In order to prove themselves to Dario Cueto, they must destroy Sexy Star, Pimpinela Escarlata, and Mascarita Sagrada. They will compete in a no-disqualification six-man tag team match, and Cueto wants The Crew to hurt their opponents so badly that they won’t come back.

Ivelisse (w/Son of Havoc) vs. Angélico
Before the match, Ivelisse gets on the mic, and points out that this match was supposed to be Son of Havoc’s rematch against Angélico. However, Son of Havoc has been constantly losing for months, and Ivelisse is going to do his fighting for him.

Angélico tries to go on easy on Ivelisse, since he doesn’t want to fight a woman. While Ivelisse is recooperating, Son of Havoc kicks Angélico in the face, leading to Ivelisse rolling Angélico up for the win. Winner: Ivelisse

Texano vs. Super Fly
Texano is the youngest, and one of the longest reigning, AAA World Heavyweight Champions of all time. He believes that Alberto El Patron stole the AAA World Heavyweight Championship from him, and he followed El Patron to Lucha Underground to get revenge. Super Fly is a great opponent to make Texano look great in his debut.

After a pretty quick match, Texano hits a modified neckbreaker for the win. Winner: Texano

After the match, Alberto El Patron comes to the ring, and attacks Texano. He takes Texano’s bull rope and whips Texano with it, then punches him with it before he is stopped by officials.

Backstage Segment
Cage enters Dario Cueto’s office, demanding Cueto to name him the Lucha Underground Champion. Cueto says that if Cage defeats Puma in a non-title match next week, he will be next in line for a Lucha Underground Championship opportunity. Immediately afterwards, Chavo Guerrero storms into Dario Cueto’s office and quits Lucha Underground.

The Crew (Bael, Cortez Castro, & Mr. Cisco) vs. Sexy Star, Pimpinela Escarlata, & Mascarita Sagrada – No Disqualification
These are perhaps the two most opposite teams in Lucha Underground. The Crew is bunch of street fighters, focused on hurting their opponents. Escarlata, Sagrada, and Sexy Star, are performers that are more focused on fun, and entertaining the audience.

During the match, Big Ryck makes his way to the ring, wearing an eyepatch after The Crew “branded” him with a cigar. Mr. Cisco is distracted by Big Ryck’s entrance, and Sexy Star rolls him up for the win, ending this episode of Lucha Underground. Winners: Sexy Star, Pimpinela Escarlata, & Mascarita Sagrada
