Lucha Underground S1E30 Recap: Vampiro Saves Sexy Star

Photo from El Rey Network

On the last episode of Lucha Underground, we saw the first match of a more aggressive Johnny Mundo, as well as two huge main events. Prince Puma successfully defended his Lucha Underground Championship against Hernandez with the help of a steel chair, and a returning Mil Muertes defeated Fenix in a deathmatch.

Tonight’s episode of Lucha Underground features a rematch between Sexy Star and Pentagon Jr., and it will be a submission match.

This recap is part of a series that is recapping the entirety of Lucha Underground. If you would like to catch up on previous recaps, click here for the recap of the last episode. Currently, Lucha Underground airs Wednesdays on El Rey Network, and is now available on iTunes.

Opening Segment
Dario Cueto is in his office with a returning Chavo Guerrero, regarding Black Lotus, who wants to kill Dario Cueto’s brother. Guerrero has sworn to protect Black Lotus, but Dario Cueto is ready to make him an offer he can’t refuse. Chavo Guerrero suggest “round-the-clock protection from Mexico,” and they have a deal.

Jack Evans vs. Argenis
Jack Evans debut a couple weeks ago against Aerostar, and was impressive in his loss. Evans claims that he is the future of lucha libre, but in order to do so, he should probably pick up a win. His opponent, Argenis, will not make that easy, since he has a family history in lucha libre, including Mysteziz, formerly known as Sin Cara in WWE.

Before the match starts, Dario Cueto exits his office to announce that the winner of this match will earn one of the seven Aztec medallions. Fenix won the first medallion, and whoever wins this match will see “great fortune” in their future.

Jack Evans uses the backslide, along with a bridge combination, to put Argenis away, and win one of the seven Aztec medallions. Winner: Jack Evans

Backstage Segment
Delavar Daivari approaches Big Ryck backstage, telling him that they are awarded a Trios Championship opportunity. Big Ryck suggests The Mack as their partner, when Cage interrupts and attacks The Mack, making Cage the new partner.

We switch gears to Chavo Guerrero informing Black Lotus that she will have a match in the Temple tonight. A skeptical Black Lotus starts fighting Chavo Guerrero, and Guerrero calls in the Crew to help him take down Black Lotus.

Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, & Angélico (c) vs. Delavar Daivari, Big Ryck, & Cage – Trios Championship
Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, and Angélico were originally all feuding with each other, but after being put together as a Trios team, they put their differences aside, and have overcome all the obstacles thrown at them. The biggest disadvantage for the Trios Champions is that Ivelisse is still suffering from an ankle injury, and even though she will show a fighting spirit, the challengers have the advantage.

During the match, Texano sneaks in to hit Big Ryck with his bullrope to get back at Daivari. Son of Havoc takes advantage, hitting Daivari with a Shooting Star Press to pick up the victory. Winners, and STILL Trios Champions: Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, & Angélico

Backstage Segment
The Crew and Chavo Guerrero bring Black Lotus to Dario Cueto, all tied up. Cueto says that he will put her right across from his brother, Matanza, who is currently locked up in the Temple.

Pentagon Jr. vs. Sexy Star (Submission Match)
This match is seemingly in Pentagon Jr.’s favor, after he has been using an armbreaker to defeat, and injure, his opponents over the last several weeks. Sexy Star has been determined to put a stop to it, and if what she claims is true, we will see tons of new holds from Sexy Star. Before the match, Pentagon Jr. says that she will be a sacrifice for his master, and she attacks him from behin before he finishes his promo.

Sexy Star has Pentagon Jr. in a single-leg Boston crab, when an unmasked Super Fly returns to break up the submission. With Super Fly’s helps, Pentagon Jr. uses a modified surfboard stretch on Sexy Star to win the match. Winner: Pentagon Jr.

After the match, Pentagon Jr. looks to break the arm of Sexy Star, but Vampiro comes to the ring to break things up. The two stare down, but a frustrated Vampiro decides to walk to the back and avoid confrontation.
