Lucha Underground S1E35 Recap: Pentagon Jr. Challenges Vampiro

Photo from El Rey Network

Last week on Lucha Underground, we saw Alberto El Patron make a statement towards Johnny Mundo, Texano getting revenge on Delavar Daivari, and Chavo Guerrero failing to win the Lucha Underground Championship.

With Ultima Lucha getting closer, there are only two matches scheduled for the card so far. Alberto El Patron will face Johnny Mundo, after Mundo attacked El Patron several weeks ago and sent him through the window of Dario Cueto’s office. The main even for the card is Prince Puma defending the Lucha Underground Championship against a new, and improved, Mil Muertes.

This recap is part of a series that is recapping the entirety of Lucha Underground. If you would like to catch up on previous recaps, click here for the recap of the last episode. Currently, Lucha Underground airs Wednesdays on El Rey Network, and is now available on iTunes.

Opening Segment
Pentagon Jr. is talking to his master, regarding his desire to face Vampiro and destroy him. Pentagon Jr. claims that Vampiro is not the man he once was, and that Ian Hodgkinson (Vampiro’s real name) will be the next sacrifice.

The Mack vs. Cage
A few weeks ago, Delavar Daivari and Big Ryck needed a third partner for a Trios Championship opportunity, and they chose The Mack. Shortly after their decision, Cage interrupted them and attacked The Mack all over the locker room. Tonight, The Mack has a chance to defeat Cage and get some revenge.

The Mack dodges a big boot from Cage, and rolls him up for the three count. Winner: The Mack

Backstage Segment
Son of Havoc is in the locker room, and Catrina appears out of nowhere. Catrina warns the Trios Champion that one thousand deaths await him, assumedly at the hands of the Disciples of Death.

Interview with Pentagon Jr.
Before the interview starts, Vampiro apologizes for his actions several weeks ago, when he saved Sexy Star from getting her arm broken. Instead of this being a traditional interview, Pentagon Jr. ends up calling Vampiro weak and pathetic, then gets in his face before storming off.

Mil Muertes (w/Catrina) vs. Son of Havoc (w/Ivelisse & Angélico)
Instead of the Disciples of Death, who are likely to get a Trios Championship title shot, Son of Havoc will face a thousand deaths in Mil Muertes (which makes sense, considering that’s the exact translation of “Mil Muertes”).

Son of Havoc started his career in Lucha Underground with a depressing losing streak, which was quickly turned around when the Trios Championship tournament came around. Since participating in, and eventually winning, the Trios Championship tournament, Son of Havoc has been very impressive in the ring.

Mil Muertes, however, is different than anyone Son of Havoc has faced before. Mil Muertes was destructive in his initial run in Lucha Underground, but after being locked in a coffin by Fenix, Mil Muertes was reborn, and is more powerful than ever. When Mil Muertes returned, he defeated Fenix in a deathmatch, and Fenix has not been seen since.

During the match, Catrina summons the Disciples of Death, who attack Angélico while Catrina knocks Ivelisse out. After Son of Havoc dives onto the Disciples of Death, Mil Muertes hits Havoc with a spear, followed by the Flatliner, to pick up the victory. Winner: Mil Muertes

After the match, Catrina gives Son of Havoc the Lick of Death.

In-ring Segment
Texano is in the ring, and he challenges Chavo Guerrero to a match at Ultima Lucha. After this challenge is issued, The Crew attacks Texano from behind, and Blue Demon Jr. seems to make the save. Instead of attacking the crew, Blue Demon Jr. attacks Texano for claiming that “he is Mexico.” Instead of fighting Blue Demon Jr.’s battles for him, Texano will fight Blue Demon Jr. at Ultima Lucha (according to Blue Demon Jr., anyway).

Team Alberto (Alberto El Patron, Sexy Star, Drago, & Aerostar) vs. Team Johnny (Johnny Mundo, Jack Evans, Super Fly, & Hernandez) – Atomicos Match
Before this match starts, Matt Striker officially announces that Hernandez will take on Drago at Ultima Lucha.

This match has so much going on, since there are eight luchadores involved. After all the chaos in and out of the ring, Johnny Mundo gets a sneaky roll-up on Sexy Star for the win. Winners: Team Johnny

After the match, Pentagon Jr. attacks Vampiro from behind. If Vampiro doesn’t accept Pentagon Jr.’s challenge for a match at Ultima Lucha by next week, everybody will see Vampiro “burn in flames.”
