Mavericks News: Luka Doncic Focused On Big Team Goal, Not Individual

For the Dallas Mavericks, their 137-123 victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday afternoon was a major statement. Furthermore, their star player Luka Doncic kept on dominating.

With that being said, Luka Doncic dominated on the court. His run of play over the first month of the season has even the most casual NBA fans taking notice. Indeed, he was showered with chants of ‘MVP’ by the home crowd in a 41-point performance where he added 10 assists.

Still just 20 years of age, it would be easy to lose site of what’s important. Truly the guy is dominating the sport and can’t play a game without being talked about all over social media. Equally important, Dallas looks like a Cinderella team, the Mavericks are tied for third in the West with an 11-5 record currently.

However, Doncic says the goal remains the same. It’s about continuing the success, and carrying it through to a playoff berth.

Therefore, here’s what Doncic said after another dominating performance where he went toe-to-toe with James Harden.

“For me, it’s making the playoffs still. It’s a long season. It’s only been one month. We didn’t make the playoffs yet, so we’ve just got to keep going right now.”

As good as that quote reads, Doncic’s accomplishments on the court may be even better than his makeup. For instance, he joins Lebron James as the only other player in NBA history to have multiple games with at least 40 points and 10 assists before their 21st birthday.

Finally, this guy makes me want to tune into a Dallas Mavericks game. While the NBA is about to take center stage this part of the year, it’s a league still looking for ways to create fan interest.

With a talent like this leading the way, give us more Doncic. Honestly, if I knew Dallas was on national television; I would definitely tune in if I was at home to see what his game is all about. He’s earned the curiosity to say the least.
