Redskins News: Dwayne Haskins Misses Final Snap To Selfie With Fan

Not everything Washington Redskins’ quarterback Dwayne Haskins did was poor. However, the last thing he did before leaving FedEx Field in Washington was not smart. Still, the rookie quarterback went 6 of 9 for 68 yards on his final two possessions. Both drives ended in field goals with the second being the game winner over the Detroit Lions, a 19-16 final.

Then as the seconds ticked down, Haskins went over and took a selfie with a fan. Therefore, here is the shot.

Obviously, Haskins was so excited for his first win as an NFL starter; he said he lost his head a bit.

“I was so hyped, I broke a water bottle,” Haskins said. “I look up and we’re in victory [formation]. I thought the game was over with already, but I’ll get it next time.”

Furthermore, the knock on Haskins in the NFL draft wasn’t a physical attribute. Indeed, scouts worried about his maturity after some issues surfaced in pre-draft interviews.

Equally important, Redskins’ legend Joe Theismann was critical of the organization starting Haskins too early in his career. Currently it looks like Theismann was onto something.

Still, the head coach Bill Callahan was just happy that Washington won the game.

“No, I don’t laugh at it,” Callahan said. “I’m happy we won. We’ll address that. I’m just pleased we won the game. I just have to find out.”

Haskins saying he will ‘get it next time’ is a bit concerning, more than his 13 for 29 day with 156 yards and an interception. Certainly this isn’t a hallmark of greatness moment. While most quarterbacks would be happy to just get out of there and to the film room, Haskins is taking pictures with a fan.

As someone who has met Haskins – I can say clearly he’s not a bad guy. Still, this is a bad sign in the early going. You hope that he makes better decisions in the days and weeks to come and has a long career ahead of him that lets his rocket arm do the talking.
