Cowboys News: Dallas Owner Jerry Jones Is Upset After Patriots Loss

Right now, things have gotten interesting in Dallas. Following a 13-6 loss at the hands of the New England Patriots, Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones didn’t sound happy.

Moreover, two glaring quotes paint a picture of the owner’s great frustration. Perhaps he realizes that this is just another competitive team going nowhere fast. That’s the reality of after Sunday’s loss.

However, before reading the two telling quotes; remember that Jones gave head coach Jason Garrett a vote of confidence back in mid-October. Still, it’s hard to think that vote is any better than the paper it was printed on right now.

First, Jones tells Ed Werder the following:

“With the makeup of this team, I shouldn’t be this frustrated.”

Also, think back to the last time we mentioned Jones at the beginning of the month. Then, he expressed that he thought the 2019 Cowboys would be better.

Next, Jones tells David Helman that he felt Sunday’s loss at New England was on the special teams unit. Dallas missed a field goal early and had a punt blocked. Overall, it was a sloppy effort with some muffed returns and shoddy play.

“To me, special teams is 100 percent coaching.”

Now that is a glaring shot right at the head coach if I’ve ever seen one.

Honestly, as the years go onward; it feels like this is the same thing we have seen from the Cowboys under the Jones family. Furthermore, it’s what we have seen from Dallas under Jason Garrett the entire head coach’s tenure.

Everyone gets really excited for a marquee match-up, and Garrett somehow comes up just short. Indeed watching this game in full, there were several opportunities where Garrett just failed to be aggressive enough to take down Tom Brady and Bill Belichick on the road.

For instance, Garrett elected to punt on fourth and one late in the game to give the ball back to Brady. Does he remember that he has a $100 million dollar running back in Ezekiel Elliot at his disposal? Also, Garrett elected for a field goal deep in New England territory late in the game on fourth down rather than go for a touchdown that would have tied the score at 13-13. This was enough to get the attention of Troy Aikman in the broadcast booth.

Finally, Dallas will probably slip into the playoffs. But that’s not what this team is really geared for, and it doesn’t sound like Jerry Jones has truly made a final decision on who will be roaming the sidelines for Dallas in 2020.
