MLB Predictions: Detroit Tigers should be Road Favorites at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday Night on MLB Network

MLB Betting:  The Detroit Tigers should be road favorites on Tuesday night as they visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on MLB Network.  The Tigers made a big splash at the trading deadline getting David Price but the team suddenly isn’t scoring many runs.  There is no question that the Tigers have a great pitching staff but they need their offense to get kick started.  They may have some success in this series against a Pittsburgh team that does not have a strong pitching staff. Here is a look at Tuesday’s game and MLB predictions.

Detroit Tigers Pitching

It is hard to argue with the Tigers pitching as they have the deepest starting rotation in the league with Max Scherzer, David Price, Anibal Sanchez, Justin Verlander and Rick Porcello. It should be Porcello in this game on Tuesday.  He has been really good this season as he comes into this game with a record of 13-6 and an ERA of 3.09.

Pittsburgh Pirates Pitching

The Pirates have been just average in terms of pitching as they are right in the middle of the league at 15th in team ERA at 3.72 runs allowed per game. They should be going with Edinson Volquez in this game on Tuesday.  And Volquez is right around the league average with an 8-7 record and a 3.91 ERA. He really is just a journeyman arm that is in the rotation. He will go five or six innings and give up three or four runs.

Tigers vs. Pirates Series

The Tigers have lost six of the last ten against the Pirates with five of the last seven going under. The Pirates have won 8 of the last 10 at home in this series with five of the last six going under.

MLB Predictions

The pitching matchup really favors the Tigers in this one as Porcello is a better pitcher than Volquez.  The Pirates are also not the same team without Andrew McCutchen in the lineup. We’ll look for the Tigers to win this game on Tuesday night.
