NCAAF Matchups: Huskers visit Fresno State Saturday Night on CBSSN!

NCAAF Matchups:   The Nebraska Cornhuskers and their fans were holding on for dear life as they needed a phenomenal 58-yard TD catch and run by Ameer Abdullah to save them in a 31-24 home win over 1-AA McNeese State, which puts into question their viability against Division 1A competition going forward.  The Fresno State Bulldogs have been rendered helpless in their first two games after breaking out with the Mountain West Conference championship last year.

The Fresno State Bulldogs will host the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday night with coverage on CBSSN starting at 10:30 PM ET.  BetDSI opened with Nebraska as a 10 point favorite.

Home Opener

Fresno State opened its season with a pair of games against Pac 12 competition losing at USC 52-13 and at Utah 59-27 as they failed to get the money in either game.  It’s been an ugly look for the Bulldogs as they rank 111th overall nationally for offense and 126th for defense.  Without departed record-setting QB Derek Carr this team is a mere shell of its former self.

Fork in the Road

Nebraska is 1-1 both straight up and against the spread with impressive metrics in which they rank 6th nationally for total offense and 22nd for total defense.  Abdullah may have broken into the Heisman Trophy race after that spectacular TD effort to save the season for the Big Red.  Nebraska now has the chance to use last week’s win as a springboard as well as a wake-up call.

Matchup and Pick
Nebraska has picked up the pace on the road as of late with four payouts in their last five away games as just eight out of their last 20 away games have gone over the total.  Fresno State has covered just two out of their last nine home games with four out of their last five home games going under the total.  Fresno State covered the last meeting in this head to head series back in 2011 when the Bulldogs lost a 42-29 decision at Nebraska but got the money as 28.5-point dogs as the game soared over the total of 53.5.  We’ll call for Nebraska (-10.5) to cover in this one.
