It wasn’t the best first day of practice for the Cincinnati Bengals. Star wide receiver A.J. Green left the field with a “lower leg injury” that’s been initially diagnosed as a sprained ankle. An MRI has been scheduled to confirm the extent of the injury and all of Bengals fandom, and new head coach Zac Taylor, have their fingers crossed.

Taylor doesn’t seem to think the injury was significant.

“I think we’ll let him get checked out.,” Taylor said I don’t think anything that’s happened today is anything that… You don’t want to assume anything, but I think we’re going to be OK.”

Green is coming off one of his least productive years since he entered the league as a first round pick out of Georgia in 2011. Last season he played in only nine games with 46 catches, 694 yards and six touchdowns.

Green is in the final year of his contract, due to make $11.976 million this season. Regardless of whether he remains in Cincinnati or not, it’s in his best interests to have a speedy recovery and put up his normal numbers.

Haasan Reddick has arthroscopic knee surgery

Arizona cardinals linebacker Haasan Reddick will be held out of training camp for four-to-six weeks as he recovers from having his knee scoped and a torn meniscus repaired.

Reddick is entering his third season with the Cardinals. The team drafted him in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Temple. Last year he started 12 games and played in all 16, recording 80 tackles, eight for a loss, four sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defended.

Detroit Lions cut running back Theo Riddick

After six seasons with the Detroit Lions, Theo Riddick is looking for a job. The third down specialist is officially on the waiver wire after the Lions cut him loose Saturday. The move clears $3.66 million in cap space.

Riddick was a third round pick for Detroit back in the 2013 draft. He’s a third down and pass-catching specialist. Last season he hauled in 61 passes for 381 yards and added 40 carries for 171 yards on the ground, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

The Saints are already lining him up for a visit.
