NFL Week 5 Betting Odds: Look-ahead Lines

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Week 4 of the NFL season marks the end of September. As we wind down the final week of the opening month, we’re still trying to get a grip on who is legitimately good and who is more of a fluke. We’ll find out more this weekend but right now, we’re going to look ahead to the Week 5 look-ahead lines, which are already up on the board.

Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots

Opening Line: Patriots -8

The Colts have been surprisingly competitive early this season, so this won’t be a walk in the park for the Patriots. Expect this line to shift up or down based on whether the Patriots rebound this week versus Miami or stumble once again.

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns

Opening Line: Ravens -1

After playing the Steelers, the Ravens go on the road in the division again, this time they travel to Cleveland. The Browns are no longer a walk in the park, which is why the betting line shows what is basically a toss-up.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs

Opening Line: Chiefs -3.5

One of the best defenses in the NFL squares off with one of the best offenses. The Chiefs will be on a short week after playing on Monday Night Football.

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills

Opening Line: Titans -3

The Bills beat the Vikings but few people are putting much stock into that just yet. They’re a three-point home dog to the inconsistent Tennessee Titans.

New York Giants at Carolina Panthers

Opening Line: Panthers -6

It’s slightly surprising to see the Panthers open -6 as the Giants were a 6.5-point road dog at the Houston Texans, who hadn’t won a game. The Panthers are a quality NFC team, so this line should only rise.

Denver Broncos at New York Jets

Opening Line: Jets -2.5

The Jets are favored in this spot but another bad showing in Week 4 will probably make this number flip. The Broncos are on a short week after playing on Monday Night Football.

Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers

Opening Line: Steelers -3

After hosting the Bengals, the Falcons stick with the AFC North for a second straight week and visit the Steelers. Expect to see one of the higher totals of the week in this matchup of two stellar offenses.

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

Opening Line: PK

Expect this line to change based on the Lions performance this week. If they can backup their big win over New England, they’ll stay at a PICK or be slightly favored. If last week’s win was just a fluke, they’ll end up as dogs.

Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals

Opening Line: Bengals -4

The Dolphins are at New England this week before heading to Cincinnati. This will be the Bengals first home game in three weeks after back-to-back road games at Carolina and Atlanta.

Oakland Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers

Opening Line: Chargers -6.5

The Raiders have mostly been competitive but if the wins don’t start showing up, the heat on head coach Jon Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr is going to turn up. Obviously, they’ll be a sizable dog in this contest.

Other Week 5 Look-ahead Lines
