Patriots News: Tom Brady Talks About Frustration With New England Offense

Obviously if you watched the Patriots’ 17-10 win in Philadelphia, the score was probably lower than you expected. For example, it was the first time in Tom Brady’s 20-year career that he played from start to finish and didn’t lead the Patriots in touchdown passes, according to ESPN’s Stats & Information.

Equally important, Brady is frustrated with the feel of the Patriots’ offense. Right now, that should be something to file away; because for this late in the season it’s definitely an important footnote.

Here’s what Brady has to say about his frustration on WEEI airwaves. As always, he’s open and candid about his feelings.

“It’s just frustration with the offense; we’re trying to grind them out. I’m happy we won on the road, but at the same time, I just wish we’d score more points,” Brady said on The Greg Hill Show. “We have to figure out how we can fix our problems as best we can.”

Clearly – as I watched the game – it seems like Brady doesn’t have a lot to throw to. Surely, there’s Julian Edelman. Other than that, it’s a couple of receivers who are far from stars. Remember, there’s no big Rob Gronkowski out at tight end. All of this leads to a wonder if Brady has a lack of familiarity with his current band members or if the Patriots are ripe for a late-year upset in the playoffs.

The quarterback speaks about this as well.

“As crazy as it sounds, we’re still kind of relatively new; getting familiar with each other on offense. The strength of our team is our defense and special teams. So on offense, we just have to take advantage when we get opportunities, understand where our strengths lie and try to play to them. Not giving short fields. Not turning the ball over. Try to take advantage when we get into the red area and score touchdowns. That’s kind of where our offense is, and that’s kind of where our team is.”

Currently, Brady has fine numbers but he’s far from having MVP or league leading statistics. For example, he has 14 touchdowns to go along with five interceptions. His QB rating of 90.1 is below his career rating of 97, and don’t think for a moment that Brady doesn’t know this in his head.
