Lakers News: Lebron James Pays Homage To Kobe Bryant At Staples In A Cool Way

On Sunday, Lebron James gave Kobe Bryant a show to remember. While Bryant was at Staples Center to promote a children’s novel, James did the work on the hardwood to entertain the retired legend.

Particularly in the first half, James came out hot. For example, James’ plus-minus of plus-41 in 18 minutes in the first half was the best plus-minus in any half of his 17-year career. Of course, this was aided by hitting the three ball at a scorching pace.

Following the game, James had some nice comments to say about both Bryant and his performance being a tribute to the former Laker legend.

“That’s one of the greatest players to ever play this game, taking time out of his day on a Sunday,” said LeBron James, who put up 33 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds. “So I’m just trying to put on a show for him and give him a reason, like, ‘OK, we might come to another game.'”

Next, we have some video of Lebron raining threes; and Bryant looking genuinely ecstatic about it. This should tell the story – there is no beef right now between the two.

Equally important, current Laker Dwight Howard says while there might have been hard feelings; they’re in the past.

“Were there ever any hard feelings? It doesn’t matter,” said Howard, who has taken to wearing Bryant’s signature Nike sneakers this season because he likes how they feel. “That’s the past. This is a new age, a new day. We’re all about positive vibes.”

In the end, the Lakers won the game 122-101. However, the biggest take home message from this game is that Kobe Bryant and the current breed of Lakers are just fine. This includes Lebron James.

Currently, the Lakers are 11-2 to begin the 2019-2020 season; including a 7-1 mark at Staples Center.
