Red-Hot Toronto Blue Jays Favored to Defeat Kansas City Royals on Sunday

Baseball Odds: The red-hot Toronto Blue Jays should be heavy favorites on Sunday as they host the Kansas City Royals. The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to send Mark Buehrle to the mound and he comes into the game at 9-1 with an ERA of just over two. Buehrle has dominated the Kansas City Royals in his career with 24 wins and 12 losses. Let’s look at the contest and baseball picks.

Probable Pitching Matchup – Jeremy Guthrie vs. Mark Buehrle

The Kansas City Royals are expected to send Guthrie to the mound on Sunday. He is 2-4 on the season with a 4.14 ERA. He has pitched well for the most part but doesn’t have much to show for his work. He has not won in his last nine starts. He has given up just one run in his last two outings but the KC offense is terrible. Somehow Guthrie is 0-2 in his last three starts even though his ERA is 2.57. Guthrie has a 3.46 ERA in his career against the Toronto Blue Jays but his record is 3-8.

It has been a great season so far for Mark Buehrle who is on track to be the starter in the All-Star game for the American League. Buehrle is 9-1 with a 2.33 ERA. He is just the second pitcher in Toronto Blue Jays history to win at least nine of his first eleven starts. Buehrle has been great against the Kansas City Royals in his career with a record of 24-12 and a 3.64 ERA.

Game Notes

These teams had split their last ten meetings before this series started. They had also split their last ten meetings in Toronto with the last three games going under the total. The Kansas City Royals have not played well recently as their offense continues to be a major problem. The team simply has no power and unless they string together a number of hits they can’t score more than two or three runs per game. And now their vaunted pitching staff is starting to struggle and the team is losing.

I will make two plays in this one and take the Toronto Blue Jays and the game under the baseball odds.
