History Against the Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks will be trying to do something that only two teams in NFL history have ever done and that is play in three consecutive Super Bowls.  The Miami Dolphins lost in Super Bowl VI as they were beaten by the Dallas Cowboys 24-3. They came back the next year to win Super Bowl VII, winning 14-7 over the Washington Redskins and they also won Super Bowl VIII as they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-7. The Buffalo Bills lost four consecutive Super Bowls from 1991-1994.

NFC Favorites

The Seattle Seahawks will start the season as the favorites in the NFC but they would take a hit if they lose running back Marshawn Lynch.  They already have to overcome the loss of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn who is now in Atlanta and they also have to get over the most disappointing Super Bowl loss in history.

The Green Bay Packers should have beaten the Seattle Seahawks and played in the Super Bowl so you have to like their chances of rebounding in a big way next season.  They don’t lose any of their key players and Aaron Rodgers will have a healthy calf next season.

The Dallas Cowboys also figure to be in the mix although it is still hard to trust a team led by Jason Garrett. The Philadelphia Eagles could also be a team that makes a Super Bowl run next season especially if Nick Foles comes back strongly from injury or if the team moves up in the draft to take Marcus Mariota.  And don’t sleep on the Chicago Bears as new head coach John Fox always has his teams in contention.

AFC Favorites

You have to start in the AFC with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.  They do have to keep Darrelle Revis and find someone to run the ball but Bill Belichick has proven he is one of the greatest coaches in NFL history and this team always contends. The Denver Broncos should also be in contention but only if Peyton Manning returns for another season. Also look for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens to be in the mix once again.
