Stanton wins the MVP and comes home as an All-Star

There was no better location than the seats in left-center-field at Dodger Stadium for Giancarlo Stanton’s first All-Star home run. Since it was there that his love of baseball blossomed into a lifetime obsession, he received the Ted Williams Award on Tuesday night for being the most valuable player in the Chevrolet All-Star Game.

Stanton, who went to Notre Dame High School in adjacent Sherman Oaks and grew up 30 minutes from Dodger Stadium, said, “I can’t really convey how great this is. It’s difficult to express that this is the current situation. I’m taking everything in.”

The American League defeated the National League 3-2 and claimed its eighth straight victory in the Midsummer Classic thanks to two home runs from Giancarlo Stanton and Byron Buxton. Stanton’s game-changing fourth-inning bomb eliminated the National League’s two-run advantage. The first players to back-to-back in an All-Star Game since 2018 are Stanton and Buxton.
