The Hatters are trying to rebound after their 87-79 loss to the VMI Keydets in their last matchup. VMI’s 34.1 offensive rebounding percentage was their biggest strength over Stetson, who had a mark of 25.0. The Keydets’ mark was above their season average of 29.0, while the Hatters’ was below their season average of 39.6. Abayomi Iyiola played well for Stetson, contributing 12 points and 13 rebounds.

In the Wildcats’ previous game, they got blown out by the Omaha Mavericks, 76-56. Omaha was successful at getting and making free throws. The Mavericks made 24 of their 30 free throws (80.0 percent), while the Wildcats were just 8-17 (47.1 percent). With 17 points on 6-for-16 shooting, Malik Maitland led Bethune-Cookman in scoring.

The Wildcats won the sole contest against the Hatters last season, 74-62. Bethune-Cookman had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (36.1 vs. 22.5). Stetson, meanwhile, did a great job of converting from the free throw line (15-17; 88.2 percent).

There should be a fair amount of transition action in this showdown that features two of the country’s more fast-paced teams. Bethune-Cookman ranks fourth in possessions per game (77.1) and Stetson is 27th (73.8) dating back to last season.
