The Best Bets For The 2018 Masters Tournament

The Masters

Arguably the most prestigious of the four major championships, the Masters will tee off on Thursday as Augusta National Golf Club, as it has since 1934. Sergio Garcia is the defending champion as he won his first major in a playoff with Justin Rose, but the field is loaded with the very best players in golf. Tiger Woods is the main story going into the PGA Tour’s first major of the season but he’s no longer favored.

Event Details

Event: The Masters

Category: PGA Tour

Date: April 5th – 8th,

Location: Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia

Past Five Winners

2017: Sergio Garcia -9

2016: Danny Willett -5

2015: Jordan Spieth -18

2014: Bubba Watson -8

2013: Adam Scott -9

Jordan Spieth

Odds To Win 2018 Masters: +1300

Spieth hasn’t been at his best this season, missing two cuts, but his results in the tournaments he has finished: T-18, T-20, T-9, T-14, T-17 and a T-3 in Houston. All of his stats are very good outside of putting, where he is 185th in Strokes Gained: Putting. However, he is 17th on the PGA Tour in fourth-round putting, so if he can stick around until Sunday, Spieth should be in the mix. Oh yeah, he is pretty good at Augusta if you didn’t know: Spieth has finishes of T-2, 1 (in which he tied Tiger Woods’ record of -18), T-2 and T-11 in four starts here.

Dustin Johnson

Odds To Win 2018 Masters: +1100

Johnson was set to dominate last year at Augusta before slipping at his rental house and hurting his back, forcing him to withdraw. He is still the world’s #1 golfer, even after going out early in the WGC-Match Play. He won in Hawaii, then has finishes of T-9, T-2, T-16 and T-7. From tee to green, at his best, there might not be a better golfer on the planet. However, it all depends on which Johnson comes to Augusta

Tiger Woods

Odds To Win 2018 Masters: +1200

There is no bigger name at the Masters than Woods, who won the Low Amateur in his 1995 debut here, then won in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005; he has nine other top-tens at Augusta. He last played here in 2015, finishing T-17, but Woods seems to be healthy now  and he has results of T-23, MC (missed cut), 12, T-2 and T-5. A healthy Tiger Woods at Augusta always has to be in the mix and if he gets out to a fast start, it’s going to be a loud weekend at Georgia. However, BetDSI’s oddsmakers – including odds consultant Scott Cooley – feel like he should have never been favored to begin with. It will be interesting to see what he does this week.

Tyrrell Hatton

Odds To Win 2018 Masters: +7000

Hatton missed the cut in his Masters debut last year; he actually missed the cut in all four majors last season. However, since the PGA Championship, Hatton has been on fire with two wins and 12 top-tens, including a T-3 and a T-9 on the PGA Tour. Hatton can also shoot a very low score at any given time to get into position. His putting has been great as Hatton is fifth on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting, but his irons have to be better as he is 187th in Strokes Gained: Approach-The-Green. There are birdie chances at Augusta if you can give yourself a chance, and Hatton could do that this week.
