Few baseball players in history have been more polarizing than Alex Rodriguez, who smashed baseballs at a prodigious rate but admitted later he was doing it while on steroids. A-Rod told another chunk of his story in the New York Times Magazine, and he let folks know about it on social media. Elsewhere around Major League Baseball, the Astros gave manager A.J. Hinch exactly what he wanted, the Mariners shared a special moment with a rookie and more.

It’s amazing to see how Alex Rodriguez has reinvented himself as a broadcaster and public figure since his retirement — the latest step is more of his story from his playing days.

Ask and you shall receive? It doesn’t usually work that way in baseball, which requires patience above almost all else. But Astros star Jose Altuve gave manager A.J. Hinch some immediate gratification on ESPN’s telecast of their victory against the Yankees on Monday night.

Mariners infielder Dylan Moore hit his first career dinger on Monday night. You’re never quite sure where those home run balls go, but Moore got a nice surprise from manager Scott Servais after the game.

Chris Davis is having a historically difficult time at the plate, but even as he ran his hitless streak to 47 at-bats on Monday, he had a couple of good swings and still has the support of his teammates after a victory over the A’s.

Finally, after (or during) a long day of baseball, what’s better than a beer? Phillies ace Aaron Nola is making sure one fan never goes wanting again.
